i remember when i was a kid seeing the gameboy color and not thinking it looked like an upgrade at all. like gameboy → gbc was nothing compared to gbc → gba. but looking at it now with my old crone eyes i really appreciate it
i love the Game Boy Color!! my blurple GBC that i got on my 10th birthday is (second only to my translucent GB i got on my 6th) the most beloved handheld/console ive ever owned. RIP to both, hope your parts were recycled with honor
first game i got packed in with it was Links Awakening DX and i first played it while sitting on a beach
not just a clone, but it’s a reskin of what released as elevator action ex outside of north america!
Yeah for whatever reason (probably all the licensed games) I totally sat out the GBC and went straight from my 1989 Gameboy to the GBA.
I remember being at a games store trying to choose a new GBC game and was about to go with Survival Kids until I saw Worms Armageddon on the shelf. What a horrible mistake I made.
Just realizing that I’ve owned a stupid amount of Gameboys
OG Gameboy
Gameboy Pocket
Gameboy Color
Gameboy advance SP (Silver)
Gameboy Micro
Gameboy Advance SP (Orange/Green Shrek edition)
OG Gameboy (Again)
Last two I currently own. The latter because “I’m totally gonna make chiptunes one day, and do Gameboy camera art projects”. The hell I will what kind of drive, creativity or discipline do I think I have
having not played it before, i started this version of dragon quest i earlier tonight. i can’t imagine ever having the patience for this on a big console, but on a handheld, it’s a fun little thing. amazing-looking full screen animation for the intro, too. i assume that wasn’t in the famicom original!
i wondered if i’d somehow got the wrong game when i loaded this up and it started with a little shooting section reminiscent of comical machinegun joe on master system.the first stage boss seemed impossible, but i think i probably missed an important item or something
