will we have to overclock the switch to get stable rates in LA:RE?

alright i still haven’t read this thread but here’s the straight facts

3d videogame graphics peaked on the ps2/gamecube. from there on, nine times out of ten they either become a gaudy migraine or take a nose dive into the uncanny valley. every flop of processing power spent on ā€œadvancingā€ visual fidelity at the expense of frame rate is a drop of pure FUN blood spilt at the altar of First Impressions. there is no excuse in 2019 for 144hz not to be the baseline standard for visual output. if you want realism bring back FMV you cowards

also 8 bit always looked better than 16 bit don’t @ me

Speaking of anime, it’s used deliberately lower framerate for a while. It originated as techniques to make the best out of low budget but it became a more and more deliberate part of the craft

Also it has true commitment to the top-down perspective

3D has that magical interpolation at any framerate and it seems to atrophy the skills of a lot of animators, who rely on smooth blending instead of thinking about posing, pop, and stretch.

It was lovely of Arc System Works to go over their techniques for Guilty Gear Xrd; their technique remains head-and-shoulders above even almost all 3D mimicking as 2D anime:

And it really is abandoning all the benefits of 3D animation and laboriously doing it by hand

It’s so sludgy and poisonous the game can barely handle it

someone should definitely make a game in which the game engine can get status effects

actually a better version of charmed would be if it starts weirdly erasing everyone’s negative qualities

the big ass thing is still probably good though
