In SMT1? It’s investing all of your points into AGI. AGI is overpowered in SMT1. In if…, starting with the LUK build is good because you get a few additional stat points total (if i recall correctly) when you start plus you get 5,000♄.
Here’s what the Demifiend from SMT3 looks like once he hits middle-age.
i really hate how the official localizations decided to call the Makai the “Expanse” (doesn’t the word expanse refer to the sky or heavens in the bible?). also, this fan-translation for the SMT:NINE script seems to have accidentally auto-corrected “Expanse” to “Expense” (I should hope that’s the case).
Villain mentioned Devil Summoner and then I discovered on it’s Wiki page that they made a TV series based on it and that it’s all on Youtube. Skimming through it looked pretty bad especially if you don’t understand it but this episode has a bad CG Jack Frost in it so I think that makes up for it:
yeah, megami tensei TV media is all pretty bad (though, i do kind of like the megmai tensei ova). i think a devil summoner tv show should be like a mike hama movie, but with demons.
i haven’t played this in like, 2? years, but i never uninstalled it, so like, every day or every other day i get an update about new events going on in this thing and i’m surprised it’s still going because it’s so boring.
A lot of people think that the main reason this game continues to keep chugging despite other similar more popular gacha game having been shut down at this point in their lives is that a lot of the demon assets for this are just taken from the in development SMT5 which means they can get by on a lower budget.
There are actually several demons at this point that are included multiple times only with their different designs. In the game they have limited events where occasionally when rolling for new demons the summoning portal will “glitch” and this alternate version will come out, complete with a new (in almost every case better because of course gacha) skillset.
I don’t recommend it really unless you just really want to see some demons in high definition 3D on your phone. Also like I posted earlier in the thread I like the music by the Yakuza sound team a lot. They have reduced the grind a bit (although there still is a lot of leaving your phone to idle) and at this point I’ve got so many resources that I mostly just have a good time trying different team compositions either in the PvP mode or against the timed super bosses. It’s my numbers going up game.
Atlus’ Power Instinct series apparently had a few Shin Megami Tensei references in it.
Biggest one being the final boss of Groove on Fight who’s known as Bristol-D and is a Dark Summoner who has time travelled from the future. Almost all of his attacks have him summoning various Megaten demons:
Also noticed this, in Gogetsuji Legends (basically Super Power Instinct 2) Thin Nen’s stage is this
The statues are pretty recognisable demons like Shiva/Indrajit and Yamata no Orochi. It seems though that under certain conditions the human dancers in the background will be replaced by female demons as seen in this video at 3:06
Can spot Titania, Lakshmi, Yaksini and Bodyconian there.
Gotta check out the arcade version as well (the footage is from the Saturn port where he is playable without hacking) since apparently:
In the Saturn port of the game, when Bristol-D performs his throw on female opponents, the demon who appears is always the female Succubus. In the Arcade version, an Incubus appears when his throw is performed on female opponents.
Just discovered lots of unsourced claims here but still:
Kazuma Kaneko, who is one of the main character and demon designers for the Shin Megami Tensei series, was assigned to create a character for Groove on Fight with the idea of making a connection between both series, so it was decided that the final boss would be a demon summoner.
What??
Likewise, Shin Megami Tensei’s Persona series has referenced Power Instinct on a couple occasions.
