Thinking a lot about the Dreamcast today, and I think the most prominent recollection, the thing the console was most valuable to me for, was the glut of arcade-perfect fighting games I spent hours and hours playing on this thing
entirely with the utter dogshit-for-fighting-games controller.

But goddamn did I play them. Project Justice, Tech Romancer, my coveted import copies of Capcom vs. SNK 2 and KOF 2000, 2001 and 2002. The copy of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 with the name of the shithead kid I bought it from written in Sharpie across the disk. I could go on and on and on, I won’t, but damn.

it’s almost unreal to remember how awestruck one could be when TATE’ing a 20" CRT for playing Ikaruga for the first time via RGB, experiencing it as it was designed to be experienced.

this year was the year i finally sold my whole dreamcast + accessories + games collection. i held onto everything for so much longer than i thought i would, and i think i was only finally able to part with it cuz i found a really neat little local games & records store* that i could feel good about selling to where i imagine some future little weirdo coming in and being excited at the idea of forcing all their normie friends to play sega marine fishing

*that and i was able to acquire a steam deck and a few youtube links, can’t replace the fishing controller tho ;_;
