I think it’s very funny that the only 2 DC games you could find both suck major ass

Anyway shout out to Modern Warfare 2, which has a level where you clear Northern Virginia defense contractor McMansions house by house and then defend a priceless Burger King from invasion by the evil Russkies

i’ve only ever played fallout 3 and the level of “not at all like dc” in that game is High

i do love “defend burgertown” as an incredible political commentary (if unintentional?)

I can’t express how angry division 2 made me when I beat the tedious ass game and the map turned purple and murky and they’re like OKAY DO IT ALL AGAIN BUT WITH BULLET SPONGE MIASMA. the lengths I’d go to for multi-player when I had a ps4… blech

I’m not going to defend Division 2 but I’m impressed over how much work they did on being accurate to the streets

I tracked my walk from Metro Center over to Penn Quarter down E St. and they had shops and landmarks all in the right place

this is legit what it looks like where E Street (rip in peace) was at the time

you can tell when they started working on the game because the WMATA maps in game had the silver line unfinished and the old operation times before they nuked late night closings and earlier weekend openings. I never played the full game, just the beta, but even that had a dungeon in the Newseum (I literally have not been paying attention and don’t know if the Newseum still exsists)

yeah I’ve never been to DC besides the airport I guess and I do remember being like ‘oh this feels like a real place’

I miss the newseum auto upload youtube videos of children screaming into the mic on field trips

WMATA’s subway walls are so weird. They make great generic video game environment fodder.

Nah, I remember going there one day on a whim a few years ago and finding out it was one of it’s last days.

I remember Division fans hating the DC map and wanting to go back to New York (and thus the DLC), but I thought really the biggest issue was that it didn’t have snow like New York. It was just regular old DC.
