Tomorrow night 2021-05-26T00:00:00Z will be a surprise edition of The Beautiful Game featuring BILLION ROAD, a Japanese digital board game from the creator of Momotaru Dentetsu!
Momotaru Dentetsu is a very popular video game series…in Japan! The version that came out last year sold millions of copies! Not one of those copes had English text! They have released 23 of these games and not a single one of them is available in a language I can read!! That is fucked up cuz I assume this must be the best game ever made. It has trains, is popular in Japan, it was originally developed by Hudson. How can it not be great.
Billion Road may not be great, since it doesn’t have trains, but it does have monsters, like whatever the fuck this is.
And this one, the Hogger, who’s gotten quite the makeover since the days of World of Warcraft. Truly chibi-fied.
And let’s not forget everyone’s favorite: Hot Dog near Kinki.
You may be able to befriend these monsters if you play Billion Road. Not making any guarantees. This game seems pretty “random”, and not in the way that makes one “lol” – it’s lots of dice rolling and random events and during my brief single player experience with it I rapidly oscillated between the penthouse (first place) and the outhouse (last place, which is the smelliest place, because you’re behind everyone else, and their stinky butts). If you want to play a game where you will feel personally attacked by a random number generator then boy do I have a game for you – it’s called Billion Road.

This game will last “7 years”. How long is 7 years in Billion Road? I have no fuckin clue, I’m thinking this will be 2, maybe 3 hours, and we’ll all wish we were dead long before the end. This game is four players, if we get more than 4 votes I’ll just draw names out of a hat. We’ll be playing using Steam Remote Play or whatever the heck it’s called; it seems to work pretty fine, with a little bit of lag, which shouldn’t matter cuz this is not a game of skill in the least.

Considering a 2-player 3 year game of Momotetsu is about an hour long, you probably want to reconsider the 7 year thing if you’re playing with 4 players unless you’re planning on playing all night

Which Mortal Kombat? I don’t know. I don’t give a shit. These games make no sense to me. They have a block button? Some of them have a run button? All of them kinda feel awful? Like they’re games where the combat director was the producer’s karate instructor? Which I believe was the case, maybe not those exact titles but close enough right, close enough.
