my doctor told me to do that and I said fuck off
It interacts weirdly with medication so that’s why. But I’m skipping the meds and drinking tea from sunrise to sundown on the weekends!
use it as an opportunity to exclusively buy extremely expensive tea
they might be able to switch the medication. I used to have to take a pill for a rash that interacts badly with alcohol, and I told them I would not under any circumstances stop drinking, so they sighed and gave me a different pill, and now everything works perfectly. you should always fight with your doctor over the slightest inconvenience, they’re usually holding out on you based on “best practices” that are either cheapskate or likely to change anyway. I assume that’s how the celebrities do it.
That’s a good tip in general, but in my specific case the meds are worth it, lol.
Dried mushrooms (non-psychoactive too!) make for good earthy infusions because of water-soluble compounds
I also like hibiscus flower tea from working at sbux but that’s probably obvious
i love this shit
it’s too expensive and i would like an alternative but i haven’t really been able to find any. also it’s good even if you don’t like licorice IMO
for herbals, lemon and ginger has pep
I’ve never had a MEM tea I didn’t like, though I’d probably steer clear of any with stevia as an ingredient personally:
They’re in grocery stores here, too.
MEM tea is a great idea! I have a gaiwan from them that’s legit, but I haven’t tried their teas before. It looks like they have a good selection of herbals. I’m enjoying repeating the phrase “Dark Energy: Herbal Coffee” out loud. It sounds like the name of an RPG Maker game based on a webcomic.
I also ordered a bunch of fancy herbal blends from this Quebecois company with the hubristically generic name Camellia Sinensis. Their oolong teas are great and reasonably priced, so I’m very curious how these herbal ones are.
i’ve had good experiences with this brand in the past so i’m looking forward to trying this. not really supposed to have caffeine so i’m glad this is available.
I am drinking tea every day now. Prepare to wince.
I drink it from a thermos. I put whatever tea I want into the thermos and I drink it maybe 6 hours later. When I say whatever, that could mean jasmine green, black, oolong, or Earl Grey. I don’t know if this is the right way to enjoy tea, but I consider it harm reduction compared to drinking Coke Zero before driving home.
Has anyone bought from this seller before? I’m thinking about getting some tuocha and subjecting it to the thermos.
I have drinked it, now, here today on the day.
3 infusions mixed, ~1min each @ 170f. Very good, taste-wise.
I think I want to get a vacuum sealer and make some little subdived packets that I can store in the freezer/fridge.
any vendors people like currently?
looking at https://www.vietsuntea.com/ maybe buy some today
have had good experiences buying from https://white2tea.com/ and they are still going strong i see
I’ve been getting a lot of great oolongs, greens, and herbals from the hubristically named French Canadian tea company Camellia Sinensis.
drinking a 2019 tie guan yin from yunnan sourcing today. it’s interesting… floral moving towards vegetal, an oolong that leans into dragon well territory
i’m not good at steeping, i tend to oversteep always. a housecat broke my gaiwan a few years ago, so i’ve been using an in-mug infuser basket. i think i’m going to try to keep my steeps at 20 seconds each and only vary the amount of leaf i use each time (starting at 7g and modifying more or less from there). are there any tea-experts in here who got thoughts on steeptech
Are you paying attention to water temperatures? I feel like I get better flavor from low temp, 2 minute steep time rather than high temp, 20 second steep time
