Honestly though, basic ass “Lipton” tea with 85 bags in the big yellow box, is actually pretty delicious. If you’re ever broke or DGAF, get some. Its got a sweetness and is great for milk tea.
yeah my mom drank like three cups of liptons with cream and sugar every day when i was growing up, i remember thinking it was weird when people didnt have electric kettles in their houses
COLD BREW TEA UPDATE IT IS MY FAVORITE
theres a gallon of genmai cha and a pitcher of huckleberry black and im never out of cold ass delicious tea wooo
tomorrow i visit the WALL OF TEA at the spice shop and im gonna go nuts
I been making smorgasbord milk tea
Usually rose tea and/or english breakfast (black tea). Mostly because that’s what I’ve got on hand. Two bags of tea, in total.
A generous amount of Turmeric
A healthy amount of Cinnamon
Some minced Ginger
A couple taps of cloves
A little nutmeg
A fair amount of brown sugar
a pinch or two of himalayan salt
A pad of butter
12 ounces hot water
Whole milk (probably like 4 ounces?)
damn
a pad of butter in milk tea is fucking great, i drink irish breakfast tea with just sugar, butter, milk and a tiny bit of pepper
i cold brewed some good-ass hoji cha i loveeeeeeee the sweetness at the end so much
skip the milk just go straight for butter tea
my mom would murder me for skipping milk in irish breakfast tea
ive had regular butter tea too though, its also good
Heh, I didn’t mean the whole block.
Just a reasonable slice off the ol’block.
since it’s cooling down again, i digged out some tea packets from one of my bins. this stuff is still really good, though, i really just want some irish breakfast. :\
it smells like smarties in the packet.
genmaicha for life
It has been cold here, pushing deep into the dreaded high forties, with intermittent light drizzles. My beloved Seamless Down Parka and Cashmere Crew Neck Sweater have, somehow, managed to protect my frail and steadily aging body, joints, etc.
Seeking solace, I drove out to Chinatown, in order to acquire: reasonably priced and drinkable rolled Taiwanese green oolong. I returned with a modest and demure Alishan scooped from a big tin jug labeled “HIGH MT Oolong $120/lb”. They raised their price. This nondescript jug leaf used to cost $100/lb, and they’d scoop it with a smile. But the sham herb doctor boss guy there did give me $24 worth for a cool, even, tax free 20 smackers and he was nice even if he did try to upsell me into lavish $80 vacuum sealed packets of otherwise nonspecific Lishan; no thanks pal I am reformed.
I drank some yesterday it was good enough. True to form: worse than internet tea and better than Republic of Tea ‘Jade Oolong’ or whatever the stuff in my box is.
I have some Maeda-en shincha from a few months ago, maybe I’ll drink some of that today while I play Edgeworth Investigations, now that I am: back on the sauce.
what does it mean to be ‘high MT’ ?
High mountain, grown at higher altitudes
I got some of that liquid decaf chai concentrate, on a whim, a couple weeks ago and made up a cup. I had forgotten that it is like all sugar, it’s just spicy sugar juice. A bust.
But, I have also been making decaf milk chai at night with just like spices and teabags. It is serviceable. I don’t have any ginger, though, so it is not exciting. Let’s not kid ourselves into believing that ginger is not the star of the show, here.

Later, I got some of these bags. I like them, good mix.
The trick: use the chai concentrate juice as a spicy sweetener, not a base. Eureka. One of those bags and some juice and some milk in the microwave until in inevitably spills over every time no matter what you can’t even make out clearly through the radiation window grating if it’s foam bubbling over or just steam. What a cozy treat for night night sips.
thanks ms.rose i knew you’d agree
I been drinking this one for a couple months. I’m on my 4th box.
Its good on its own
its good mixed with milk
Its good mixed with a bunch of turmeric and milk and just enough sugar to offset the bitterness of the turmeric. Sometimes I also put a drop of orange extract in there, too.
I have some rooibos-based ‘orange spice’ bags that are honestly a little too tangy to just drink on their own but sometimes I’ll sneak a bag in for a few seconds to another mix if I want to get crazy, I am with you.
there is a big and very charming contrast between the mathematical assurance and precision of “And yes, it adds to a 100%” and Sahara Rose’s very confusing accounting of the three things she is obsessed with

I just finished my last cup of this. Rinsed the glass out. Got on computer and saw an ad for it.
