I got all day
is the d-pad the failing of the steam controller in your mind?
i…actually, really like the steam controller. it feels great to use. you might have me on 4 out of 5 there
it does not have a dpad, it has a thumbpad with a cross carved into it
I have sat down and played Freedom Planet on it and by the end of the run, I went “fuck this” and plugged in a Saturn controller. it’s too big and offers too little feedback compared to any half-decent dpad
one of the things Totally Real And Legitimate Handheld PC Smach-Z was doing was having Steamcon-styled thumbpads with dpad/button “layouts” you could stick on top of them and patents for a new Steamcon have a similar concept and if you could get one of those right now, I’d probably go “no, this is good”
the steam controller has the best possible way for typing on a controller, it’s so intuitive and perfect.
my Steamcon transitioned from “game controller” to “living room computer navigational tool” so gradually I barely even noticed
bonus points for having a firmware update that adds Bluetooth support
this is where it really shines!! I don’t have a computer hooked up to my TV anymore but this was what I used it for for a long time
(note: I have not actually touched/used/seen a Divaller, nor do I have 500 dollars to buy one)
Hell, the fuckin’ Wii let you at least organize your channels.
i fucking swear by this goddamn controller every day on here it is the BEST N64 CONTROLLER BY FAR. mine isnt clear its black but holy shit its so comfortable
the GCN con is one of the worst ever made and the Vita is one of the best. The ONLY way the Vita fails is in the shoulder buttons.
the Vita shoulder buttons aren’t great but the only thing i truly dislike about it is the rare time the back touchscreen is used
It’s hard to believe defining just two shoulder buttons on the back touchscreen for PSX games wouldn’t work
but it can’t even handle that
Media Molecule must give the best hardware demos to Sony engineers anyone’s ever seen
None of these rise above 2 out of 5
I absolutely adore the gc controller and I’ve used it for a ton of games both because my Wii was my main emulation box for middleschool and most of highschool, and because I later got a PC adapter for it, but even I won’t defend the awful dpad
I know it’s bad because I played through all of the mother games + several other rpgs with it
I just didn’t have a better controller for it at the time, I was like 12
but I knew it sucked then and I know it sucks now
I’ll give it .5 on the analog sticks, the left one is absolute perfection but the c stick is only good for some stuff
picture of a vita
now this one I truly do not understand
the vita hurts my hands after like 20 minutes of use
i played sotn for the first time on the vita and it took me probably half of the entire game to figure out how to transform into a wolf because it was mapped to the back touch screen
i thought it just happened sometimes
I hooked up my GC to play Link’s Awakening a few months ago and it was pretty great to play it on my 55" and I got excited about the prospect of pulling out a bunch of my old GB/C/A games for use on my TV, but the dpad was really quite miserable so I went back to my handhelds.
I love everything else about it.
I have to confess that even though I absolutely do not need any more joycons, I’m really tempted to pick these up–anyone tried them?

The octangonal enclosure of the analog and c-sticks on both the GC and the Wii nunchuk is something I really like.
Modz plz split Controller discussion or post a meme on twitter and get 7000 RTs.
I really dig the music in this trailer.
Did anyone play this on Apple Arcade? If nothing else, it looks like a very slick Zelda-like.
I have never in my life encountered someone who likes the gamecube dpad.
