it is has the dense toybox world design of Mario 64, the slightly broken feeling first person controls (and underlying assumption of how to make an expansive videogame) of UU, the aesthetic of stock engine assets, and the puzzle design of BotW combined with the massive inventories of earlier Zelda

yeah and the balance of “whoa what’s this huge area over here all of a sudden” to “hey here’s an opportunity to try out my new toy” to “combing over an existing area for secrets” is really good

and the level geometry is just joyous

the amount of programmer humour in there is sweet too just for how seldom you see that sort of thing nowadays but the guy is german so that kind of explains it

also worth noting how good the long low floaty triple jump is for a game with so much first person platforming

there are a ton of tricky design choices in here that must have been iterated on extensively
