The Pelican and Magnolia represent my home town of Ocean Springs, Mississippi.
Blue and Silver are Ocean Springs High School colors.
On the other breast is a Texas Star and a Bear necklace everyone in my family has.
I got a good high school friend to do the designs and then handed them to the 89 year old dude. He went above and beyond on the work. I cannot believe the gradients on the pelican that is insane. How the fuck do you do that? The friend that designed it is a tattoo artist and this is the closest I can get to getting a tattoo. Like I had two incredible artists on this thing.
The guy is one of the last original Yokosuka Sukajan dudes that has been doing this since at least the 70s. He was really friendly and open but also obviously went through some hard times (see above in this thread.)
Cannot overstate how the embrodiery is beautiful and the blue is gorgeous. Just the color changes from how light hits it.
