it’s weird because this is making me feel like the only thing I care about is indie games after being sort of annoyed and/or agnostic about them for years

It’s the same game
Human, in some kind of environmental suit, walking in a familiar but spooky environment devoid of people, uses a piece of equipment attached to an arm on the suit to reveal something ghostly/unseen, acquires a vulnerable young human as a companion who uses techno-magic to help him deal with loud scary thing in suddenly corrupted environment. Suit man is on a quest to save a fractured world!

It just occurred to me that the reason the Demons’ Souls remake looks so different is because it isn’t Demons’ Souls at all. It’s Demon’s Souls, a completely different game. That clears up everything.

Looking at the high res trailers on YouTube and the direct capture screens from the Playstation Blog, the games from the stream really do look super duper impressive in a way that the stream couldn’t convey. The smooth edges on everything and the clarity of finer detail like vegetation due to the 4K resolution is just phenomenal. I wonder how these games will look on my 1080p monitor.

i miss when i was worried the series was getting too edgy and serious for its own good
room of top sony executives imagining a little rubber ball sitting in perfect balance on top of a horizontal ps4, vice president slowly going red with rage, people are crying… this does NOT convey the dynamism of our brand… we must create an object which sits boldly atop all others, which it is completely impossible to “rest shit on” so that it remains in an on-brand command position at all times… this will subtly convey a sense of dominance to the gamers… any attempt to place a coffee cup on top of the ps5 will result in that cup wildly rebounding across the room at 200mph like a unity physics error… suggested advertising slogan “time to get topped” with an image of the ps5 perched on top of the new xbox or whatever, microsoft requires at least 2 years to develop the gel-based beanbag technology required to counter this move. another skirmish in the console war…

Jinrui no Minnasama Ee apparently came out. I thought the preview looked cute and the three screenshots on psn and the opening movie continue to do so. Just 5 girls hanging out in post-apoclyptic Akiba maybe finding love?
All the youtube videos already refer to it as “Legendary Kusoge”.
Not gonna try a VN/Adventure game for 50 bucks though. Maybe/Likely it will come west?

I’ve always worried that a Demon’s remake would look past the jank and feel too flashy. This reveal seems to confirm it, I’m just hoping they don’t meddle with anything else if visuals are the price to pay to get this remade in 2020. The most I would accept would be a level remix mode that changes some item locations to keep it fresh for those of us that have played it a lot.
Voice acting is also a major concern. It gives the game an extremely distinct character. If Stockpile Thomas doesn’t have a strained, Scottish nervousness to him then why remake this?
