STUNLOCK THE PRESSES: combo breaking news (Part 1)

Should I spend 20 bucks for a mother 3 repro cart to maybe play this game finally?

20 bucks is definitely worth it to play that game!

absolutely

except wait i can mail you my old flash cart lol

shit i just bought one, haha. i can probably cancel it if you want to send me yours. i would rather have one i know works.

I’m sorry to bring the discussion of UIs back up but I went to PSN web store today and found out the new store design is live.

Wow it is so bad. Astonishingly so. I keep finding more things to be mad about.

There is no text on any of these listings, only thumbnails, leading to great layouts like this.

for those who need an update on the situation (hint: it’s no one) google issued a statement distancing themselves from the guy’s tweet and he had to change his twitter bio to more accurately reflect that he’s not actually a google stadia creative director, he’s just the creative director of a montreal studio bought by google

Don’t worry I can synthesize these topics

my flashed ds lite and ez-flash iv lite setup with mother 3 permanently in the 32mb eeprom is one of the only things I kind of regret selling when I was broke

I realise the guy doesn’t speak for Google but it is hilariously reflective of Google’s general lack of awareness about their platform and where it fits into the actual market. Cue the ā€˜even Google distances itself from Stadia’ joke.

Hey, so it works and saves etc. withdrew 100 DP from the frog bank, but I thought to crack it open and replace the battery. It’s the tiniest battery ever (6.75mm in diameter) and doesn’t appear to be replaceable (without SMD soldering) - do EEPROM carts even need battery replacements?

I just don’t want booj to lose progress, you know, no crying until the end and all.

not worth futzing with I think, the odds of it dying during his playthrough if it’s working right now are pretty low

really have no idea why they got rid of the ā€˜wishlist’ , it was a very handy way to keep track of when things went on sale. have they stealthily replaced it with some other feature that does the same thing, or is that just gone now?

edit: there’s also no way to like filter search results? literally why do this? what is the point?

I had assumed they tore down the old wishlists because they couldn’t/wouldn’t make it compatible with whatever new implementation they developed, much like the rest of old PSN. But there are in fact very few usability features on the new store at all. I don’t know if this is yet another COVID affected thing and it’ll become feature complete down the line, but woof.

or maybe they thought they like the firefox redesign so much that they should ste… be inspired by its philosophy. it looks like it, at least!

they didn’t want to maintain the old codebase anymore so they had to rewrite it from scratch and half the features aren’t ready yet

more srsly though, that store looks like i will not buy anything on it if i have even the slightest choice of getting it elsewhere, and i don’t see how this is exactly what people want?

like it reminds me of amazon where it crams in more and more rows of sponsored crap that i get frustrated after a page and just close the page, and started to not buy anything via amazon if i can get it somewhere else. and again, i don’t see how that works for their business if i just don’t want to come back anymore?

lol and the titles and stuff are in the code, just not displayed or in any alt or title tags. had to have that fuckin perfect grid, but couldn’t be bothered to have alts or titles on the images. what an absolutely white bread pile of shit. at least have it look cool if it’s not going to display any meaningful information!
