STUNLOCK THE PRESSES: combo breaking news (Part 1)

I would love that!!!

yeah at this point i would only play siege with friends and with everyone else totally muted, kind of defeating the point of playing a squad-based game

but also i probably wouldn’t play it under any circumstance OTHER THAN literally everyone in the game is a friend

it kinda amazes me that people don’t do this? like i haven’t been in a public voice chat for a game since like 2010, it feels like.

Oh I mean, I would turn off chat too if I can. Just, no communication whatsoever. Still defeats the purpose of it.

I even turn off chat in Rocket League sometimes because there’s only so many sarcastic ā€œWhat a save!ā€ messages I can take. (So many = 1)

But also, I leave on Voice Chat in HL2 deathmatch because most people don’t use it, but when they do it’s actually great. The one exception.

oh it does, which is why i don’t bother even trying to get into those kinds of games unless i know i have people to roll with. so i am kinda taken aback when people complain about the free chat community in games like this because i won’t ever see that if i ever play it.

my experience of playing siege/rocket league/titanfall 2 semi-heavily after playing almost no online games regularly for the decade preceding was that the public voice chat was overall fine compared to what I’d seen of friends’ xbl matches

Okay, for the uninitiated these production values are much higher than I expected out of independent Bungie.

The Eliksni radicalizing after the neocon human military decimated their diaspora society in Sol is a both a rich vein and heartening after five years of Lance Reddick constantly asking me to create power vacuums for the good of humanity. Time to make my neocons in Destiny video (complete with sci-if 9/11!)

I love Lance Reddick’s voice, but yes Bungie, lean into him being a Bad Guy.

do I need to buy the new thing to play this with you

(just asking to get a straight answer, I’ll do it, nbd)

Yes, the new destination is open but the story content, raid, etc. are behind the expansion. Expansions are a la carte, as is the season pass. So the base free game and Beyond Light are what you’d need to play the current stuff.

You don’t need to do much if anything in the way of leveling or play non-current content to play the latest expansion. Usually they include a level skip item or a generous loot level scale that boosts you up.

I would pick up Forsaken and Shadowkeep on sale when you get a chance - both raids are excellent and Forsaken’s story is the best so far.

(elaborating just for completeness and others, yay, ALL ABOARD)

(I don’t really recommend starting now in the twilight before the expansion unless you’re Mr. Three Korok Seeds over here and just want to check out the old story stuff before it gets removed.)

Yeah, I came back during Shadowkeep, and by running the Forsaken and Shadowkeep single player stuff, I was already up to high enough level to do most activities.

Again, just to clarify, there’s stuff you can do alone but there is very little you must do solo (like one or two odd story missions)

Amnesia: Rebirth is out today and I’m counting the hours until I’m off work and I can check it out. The original Amnesia was the Frictional Games release I cared least about, but all their stuff has been dynamite in my book, and I’m excited to see what they do with a desert setting.

I am waiting for the sun to go down as well. Very excited for this game.

I finished a replay of The Dark Descent last night on the new hard difficulty that requires 4x tinderboxes to save and I had a good time. Even though so much of that game relies on tricking the player into making themselves scared, I still want to judge the game for the strong emotions it does manage to inspire no matter how temporary or fragile they are. I think it’s still a scary game if you can believe in it. And it’s a fun puzzle game in a cool setting so, not much to dislike imo even though there is plenty that you could criticize.
