think it’s just being cut off by the top of the post frame

if you right click inspect element, and drag the highlighted bit to a different position in the html, you’ll see the full height of it

The forum learning what it’s like to be a frontend engineer ITT

That’s what I’ll never learn javascript, so that I can never accidentally end up responsible for a web site

this philosophy served me well for years but I had to give it up finally b/c I wanted to be able to ship electron apps and then I wanted to be able to work on other people’s react apps and it was a slippery slope

I’ve been relatively pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to become a fairly utilitarian js dev though, like no one would ever confuse me for a frontend designer still

actually referring to my dev as “utilitarian” is an understatement, even by my dilettante standards in all avenues of life it is extremely rare that I pursue elegance or good engineering discipline in favour of getting something working, that’s why I mostly write python and shell scripts and am terrified of ever accidentally taking a fulltime dev position because I know I will be much more poorly suited to it than my resume suggests

so many people never learn javascript and still end up somehow responsible for a website tho

Seems like with the Wii U ports, bringing Twilight Princess and Wind Waker over as well should be a good thing to do for a 2021 35th anniversary celebration of the Zelda series

Not sure if I’d pick any of them up, though. Maybe if they make the text appear faster in Skyward Sword, I’ll give it more of a shot this go-around.

seeing this made me fall into a memory hole where i tried to remember if there was ever a more zelda 64 like zelda for the wii u, because i had misremembered skyward sword as a wii u game and got confused to see it referred to as a wii game.

this then made me realize that trying to line up major zelda releases with their consoles is super weird because i think wind waker was the last one to be released during the middle of a console’s life cycle. twilight princess was gamecube/wii, skyward sword was like, near the end of the wii but i guess still didn’t get a wii u port until a lot later? and breath of the wild was also released on wii u, which is very weird to think about in retrospect

skyward sword is a lot better than twilight princess, the worst 3d zelda

I can’t defend Skyward Sword’s pacing but it did do some fun stuff with characters and had some excellent dungeons.

Twilight Princess had some good dungeons but almost nothing else. Midna was neat?

I never picked up the ports on WiiU so I’ll probably grab them for Switch. It’d be a great retrospective marathon after the massive series revolution of BotW.

For real, I wasn’t loving anything about Skyward Sword outside of some visual flourishes, but the speed at which text scrolled destroyed my desire to give the game any time.

I used codes to remove the stamina meter and make the text appear instantly and Skyward Sword was still absolutely miserable.

Twilight Princess was bad but I can enjoy almost any game that lets you run around a desert, and it had lots of weird ugly NPCs that amused me.
