yeah I think that was part of the music. which sounds pretty bad. rest of the game looks good though
no, that’s definitely a triggered sound clip. i’m sure you can go in and overwrite these audio clips with something less abrasive in the Steam version, though, like the shrieking of rabbits or wailing baby mario.

the voices / characterisation of the drivers are bad & unneccessary, the boosting is annoying and hotshot racing is a terrible name. don’t like the hud either, lap and position should be split, position isn’t prominent enough. the long list of achievements at the end of the race makes my heart sink.
player seemed to have trouble smoothly exiting drifts? maybe there is some interest in the handling?

Also, at the time of its release, Virtua Racing was emphasizing realism (I think?), whereas the emphasis here is on the unrealistic, both in graphics and gameplay.
