Streets of Rage 4

reminder, too, that sor’s cast is comprised of former cops

yeah! cops would totally hate them!

This looks like shit; not a good marriage between developer and franchise; reminds me a bit of Contra 4 in that regard.

Ex cops beating up gang members was no less tasteless in the 90s

but producers are like fish and observe safety in numbers

I just want to pop in a and reminisce that Double Dragon Neon is WayForward’s most successful game and I think it gets there entirely on vibes

I’m holding out for Vigilante 2

Oy wake me up when this is out.

my biggest hope for this game is that they don’t do anything even slightly like this

I would literally read a book you wrote about SOR btw

Cool to see STRONG OPINIONS about SoR uitt.

The apparent lack of involvement from Ancient (at this point) is concerning, but imo Lizardcube earned a great deal of goodwill with the Wonder Boy remake. Happy to wait and see how this plays out.

i hate kung fury, far cry blood dragon, and double dragon neon so much

i’m trying to think about what a “street of rage” is aesthetically and what it can be in 2019 and it should be like this:

soundtrack should just very obscure and thus cheaply licensed acid rave gems from '88-'93. i dont really mind if yuzo koshiro is composing anything or not

Now that The '80s has been an aesthetic crutch for considerably longer than the actual 1980s it is officially as cool as rockabilly and swing-dances

Taking suggestions for who the Brian Setzer is in this truth

I saw Streets of Rage live and it ruled. I then saw Kawashima perform in a basement the entire Oh Deer Soundtrack and it was the coolest thing ever! Hi @Alyx !!

God!! Streets of Rage rules!!

What are you getting at? It’s a retro revival title being announced in 2018
Or, do you mean that the game takes place in 2018? Is that relevant?

tbh, I wish they did a Streets of Rage game in the Yakuza engine, just strip out all the open worldy stuff and relentless dialogue. would work very well.

Yes art reflects the time it is made in dude.

You mean those belt scroll mini VR games in various Yakuza games that aren’t very good?

why belt scroll minigames? i’m talking about the normal battle gameplay in yak games. just have linear stages instead of open world and you’re set. i mean, i understand the experience with belt scroller games getting 3d sequels has been pretty bad, but the ryu ga gotoku combat engine, particularly kiwami/hokuto ga gotoku is rad.

Everyone watch this and lose your mind

yeah, kind of what rudie said and kind of what american2004 is saying
