When I think about it with this framing, strata literal and metaphorical are absolutely everywhere in videogames but it’s also hard to find Galaxy-Oddity-esque images to represent most of them, because you usually only see one at a time.
A functionally similar word that became the videogame jargon instead is “biome”, putting the emphasis on the inhabitants of the landscape instead of the rock itself

Have we talked anywhere yet about how Minecraft + Roblox youtubers have changed vidcon language and simply replaced the word “platforming” with “parkour”
