i dont know if there is a thread for this, but basically i dont mean if you played games “like that game”, i mean if you “even played games like that”. so like i dont even be gaming like that nowadays, but if i did, i would be all over this game. type of thing
maybe it’s best if i just post the game that got me wanting to make this thread: i have no time or really desire or ability to get heavily invested in this, but i get a lot of enjoyment out of the idea of playing this game. foxhole, basically EVE Online meets Red Orchestra / Hearts of Iron
when I was studying abroad in Cairo I played EVE like 8 hours a day on the weekends. I don’t “miss it” exactly but it isn’t a vibe I would trade for other gaming experiences
Wizardry IV seems like something I’d be really into if I had the patience for western/computer RPGs. Same with stuff like the first 2 Fallouts (I’ve tried the Fallouts, but I definitely don’t have the patience for them), and probably a lot of different computer RPGs like Planescape Torment and the one with the vampires. I remember really wanting to play Deus Ex, but it never seeming like something I would be able to play very well. I’ve always wanted to play stuff like Halo, but I can’t handle stuff like that without getting sick.
regret to say i have properly re-engaged with eve online (training for level 4 mission fits… thinking of cross speccing from caldari to minmatar, it’s gonna be a looong road)
alright I guess I memed myself back into being obsessed with eve for over a month now
there’s also an MMOFPS they are developing that will probably be hilarious jank, if anyone wants to try alpha testing this with me
there’s also also an EVE Clone that CCP themselves is making, except this time it’s a “survival game” built on… Block chain. lmfao
at this point I basically admire CCP’s ability to never learn a lesson about not being greedy little capitalists or stretching themselves too thin. honestly work
I think this “games for obsessives” macro genre fundamentally includes most MMOs and simulation games (including everything from flight sims to paradox)
this is the type of insanity i’ve been into recently. guy who speedruns the EVE new player career programme on alt characters to farm the free skill points for his main account, delete the alt, and repeat. worth reading for the attention to detail
i dont know what kind of person i am but it’s a few steps before this, but on the same road, if you catch my meaning
