Thereā€™s one particular game tune that seems to float half-formed into my brain every now and then but I canā€™t place where itā€™s from. I think itā€™s like some sort of tropical lava zone music with a moody calypso vibeā€¦ or something. Itā€™s usually just a small fragment of the tune that trails off and then repeats

Nah, I think the closest I can think of that sounds similar is maybe a cross between Labyrinth Zone and Lava Reef Zone from the Sonic games, but slower. I feel like it was from a JRPG (either action or turn based) or a 2D platformer. Otherwise itā€™s just some random pastiche of various things that my mind spontaneously formulated
