I like some of the later Lars episodes but its real nice to hear someone else who didn’t like lars/sadie centric episodes. I blame the storyboarder duo that did most of the lars/sadie episodes, I do not vibe with their writing or sensibilities (both of them produced work I liked a lot more when working with other people instead of each other so I think they just enable the most insufferable aspects of their writing in each other)

a… lot of shit happens in the last couple seasons
yeah, it really felt like sugar was hoping and expecting to do this show as an immediate follow-up. even the precise way we see him for the last time.

thinking about it, lars is the focus of at least two of the best and most brain-breaking episodes of the show (both in season 5), and a significant if minor supporting character in a third top-shelf one, following immediately from the second focus episode i mention.
that third one, which is otherwise mostly a stevonnie solo journey, basically cracked the screen enough to reach me and start to catalyze my process of questioning all i had been told about who i was, and what kind of person i could or might rather be or maybe already really was instead.
took another eleven months and endless musing, and a traumatic life event, and some patient prompting from someone here—but i got there in the end.
(actually, hell, i didn’t realize how quick that turnaround was. less than a year before i started to find myself. felt like three or more at the time, and in my memory.)

one episode, he will just sit and silently stare into the camera for twelve minutes as the camera gradually zooms in and an ominous orchestral swirl grows audible then frenzied and cacophonous by the end
at which point vidalia calls him to dinner, so he hops off the chair, turns, and scampers off screen-left

i did not buy into that until i read just how many weird ways it adds up including his given (not-preferred (dead??)) name being gender neutral and kinda femmey. i sorta take it as SU’s Earth being an AU where everyone is at least a little queer-coded
