Star Wars Thread Episode II

Deepfake Luke killed any interest I had in the TV shows

My partner woke me up from sleeping through Boba Fett to show me the cool cyborg doctor (cool) and I fell back asleep immediately after

paraphrasing but ‘why would you want to hide all that hardware’ was a good line

Visions is the first thing in a while to make me think “hey Star Wars doesn’t totally suck”

I laughed so fucking hard when Bob Fett, upon recovering the Slave 1 in a daring raid, immediately flew it directly into the mouth the same sarlacc pit he crawled out of, being eaten a second time.

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – January 25, 2022 – Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:EA) and Lucasfilm Games are joining forces to continue delivering all-new, world-class gaming experiences set within the beloved Star Wars galaxy.

Respawn Entertainment, best known for their work on Apex Legends™, Titanfall™ and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order™, is leading the development and production of these new projects. Vince Zampella, Group GM and Founder of Respawn, will oversee this new phase of EA’s relationship with Lucasfilm, building on Respawn’s award-winning history in game development and expertise in telling compelling Star Wars stories.

Game Director Stig Asmussen and his team at the studio are already working on the next game in the action adventure Star Wars Jedi series, and are joined by two new teams working to deliver additional unique Star Wars gameplay experiences across multiple genres. Leading the development of Respawn’s all-new Star Wars first-person shooter game is Peter Hirschmann, Game Director at Respawn, who has a long and accomplished history with the Star Wars franchise. The third title is a Star Wars strategy game developed through a production collaboration with the newly formed studio Bit Reactor, helmed by games industry veteran Greg Foerstch. Respawn will produce the new Star Wars strategy game while Bit Reactor leads on the development of the title.

“We are excited to continue working with the superbly talented developers at Respawn,” said Douglas Reilly, VP, Lucasfilm Games. “They have demonstrated excellence in telling epic Star Wars stories along with best-in-class gameplay across different genres and we are looking forward to bringing more amazing experiences to the galaxy far, far away.”

“Building on the previous successes of our EA relationship, this new collaboration highlights the trust and mutual respect shared between the world-class teams at EA, Respawn and Lucasfilm Games,” said Sean Shoptaw, SVP, Walt Disney Games. “Fostered by the expertise and passion within each team, we will create thrilling original games for diverse audiences across the Star Wars galaxy.”

“Working with Lucasfilm Games on a new FPS in the Star Wars galaxy is a dream come true for me, as this is a story I have always wanted to tell,” said Peter Hirschmann, game director at Respawn. Peter previously worked as VP of development at LucasArts, and was executive producer on the original Star Wars Battlefront games. Hirschmann and the team at Respawn have just begun work on the title.

Work has already begun on all three of these projects, and Respawn is looking for talent to join the teams. Additional information on available job openings can be found at Respawn Careers.

“We are huge fans of Star Wars here at Respawn and we’re thrilled to work with Lucasfilm Games on new titles that we have wanted to make for years,” said Zampella. “If you want to make great Star Wars games, you should come join us on our journey.”

franchise synergy is so hilarious they just put an entire episode of the mandalorian with plot important information inside of boba fett. i mean the mandalorian is a better show so i don’t mind but it’s so weird how fully Marvelized this shit is now. anyway amy sedaris speaking jawa/dating jawas is good

When Grogu isn’t on screen everyone should be saying “Where’s Grogu?”

i really appreciated this episode for what it was, getting back to the nuts and bolts of the series by seeing the mandalorian encounter NPCS, go on quests, and receive items and equipment upgrades

i just wish they could figure out a way to give boba fett more stuff to do in his own show :(. i really liked the direction they were going with the character but the execution has been… lacking. it’s amazing how much better this episode was purely from the perspective of vibes. just let boba fett do some silent cool shit! it apparently isn’t that hard! temuera morrison is so good at selling the facial expressions and shit in the action scenes, he’s pretty good as an actor too but if they’re gonna make him do all his lines with this whispery gravely gravitas they gotta give him better shit to say than “i am… boba fett…”

amy sedaris is so fun on the mandalorian she is functionally a holiday special character who never gets to the song part

really brings the “human actor enchanted by the mere presence of muppets” vibes to the whole thing

today’s boba fett sure was some dave filoni ass star wars

they hired the guy who did the youtube deepfake improvement of luke so now luke does not look quite so much like a cutscene boy. i mean he still don’t look alive but he is definitely the best looking cg human they’ve done. better than moff tarkin or young leia or whatever. low bar i know. ahsoka and luke hanging out and live action cad bane was probably fucking hype as hell to clone wars fans. yet another order 66 angle! still absolutely unbelievable and hilarious that boba fett after being in zero of the last episode was in 3 minutes of this one and once again it’s better than any of the ones he was in. i guess star wars being in full marvel movie bus stop mode where everything is a follow up and set up to another thing is more tolerable just because it’s still extremely slow samurai jack pacing and doesn’t have infinite quips. this show is really a bad idea all around i’m definitely gonna keep watching
