i hope a couple of those characters end up on another show that’s not section 31. tilly on an academy show would be great kinda like like o’brien on ds9
That’s a shame! Seeing new Trek be good (between SNW and Lower Decks) made me reconsider, but alas.
Also yesterday I was talking to a friend of mine about SNW and he said he tried to watch Discovery first because he knew SNW was a spin-off and wanted to see Pike’s origin, saw half a season and hated it, and is now convinced he doesn’t like Star Trek. Tragic reacts only.
Thats like declaring a hatred for final fantasy games after playing mystic quest
the tonal whiplash between the klingon war episode and the musical episode is pretty wild. but it kind of works?? it’s certainly entertaining! still need to watch the last episode of the season.
yeah, I really dug that tbh—the way SNW plays with tone is really fun, and feels similar to (I don’t make this comparison lightly) something like DS9
The very Short Treks will feature previously announced fan-favorite characters voiced by cast members from across the Star Trek universe, including Jonathan Frakes as Will Riker, Doug Jones as Saru and Armin Shimerman as Quark, and a new line-up of voices, including Ethan Peck as Spock, Gates McFadden as Dr. Beverly Crusher, Celia Rose Gooding as Uhura, Connor Trinneer as Trip Tucker, Bruce Horak as Hemmer, Noël Wells as Tendi and the legendary George Takei as Sulu.
i’m watching ds9 and just wanted to make a post saying i love this little guy. as far as i can tell it only appears one time in one episode as the setup for a corny joke. this is up there with the unicorn dog from tos to me.
tw arachnophobia (..??)
Lower Decks is back on with two eps. “Twovix” escalating the Tuvix scenario to absurd heights while also doing like 9 other Voyager plots just for fun stacking on top of each other is honestly one of the strengths of this show being able to lean into animation. Also I literally can’t get mad at a television episode with Chaotica so
was it you who said Tuvix was a better character than both Tuvok and Neelix? i think about that sometimes
i did and he is!
I love Tim Russ but I never cared about Tuvok as much as I did Tuvix in the forty minutes he was on screen.
oh i like that audio filtering a lot
Genuinely appreciate today’s Lower Decks as the final thesis of their ongoing project of reverse engineering Orion culture from all the random contradictory stuff written decades apart. It seems like it was genuinely a fun narrative problem to solve. Rutherford and Boimler taking TNG holodeck nerdery to the next level was also a lot of fun.
Watched Move Along Home from DS9 again cuz it was on TV.
I love how the peril fakeout plays out. The clue to this is at the start of the game: “Only children start on the first [level].” It’s a game intended FOR CHILDREN. Of course there’s no real peril! And also explains the childlike nature of the games they participate in: the hopscotch, the party, etc. It’s goofy and odd! I think people take umbrage with it because the big reveal is as much a prank on the inattentive viewer as it is Quark. You really thought that these aliens would kill the senior staff of a Starfleet station during a peaceful first contact?
also as far as first season trek episodes go its a real fucking far cry from code of honor or some shit
