I think maybe just due to the era that Starfleet Academy would be taking place in - the future Discovery timeline - I can’t imagine how this could be good yet. I mean, good character writing will do it, but so much of the Trek appeal is in the world-building, it’s a rough setting to have to work with.
As far as we know, there are no major competitors to the Federation. I think they straight-up defeated the Emerald Chain by blowing up their capital ship and murdering their leader. Technology has progressed to a point where literally anything is possible, you can reprogram matter itself. The galaxy has already been explored and colonized, so I guess you’d just be re-exploring old territory?
Watching TNG with my partner, her first time and my second. The first season is a lot better than I think you get the impression from a lot of online conversation. It’s also just really ambitiously produced, which is something I think (by my memory) gets lost as the seasons go on. The camera work and sets and costuming and even the effects are really great right out of the gate.
every ds9 episode in order over the course of two months hands down the best show EXCEPT
the pah-wraiths. possessed people with glowing eyes shooting fucking orange and blue chi beams at each other. sisko the chosen one sealing the ancient evil in the fire caves. i love when he talks to the prophets until that!

Silverman played an astronomer named Rain Robinson in the episode, and she teamed up with Tim Russ’ Tuvok and Robert Duncan McNeill’s Tom Paris when the Voyager crew inadvertently found themselves back in time on Earth in 1996. The actress recently recalled the experience during an interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers, and she talked about filming her kiss with McNeill, and a real-life kiss she shared with a previously unrevealed co-star:
“I kissed him [Robert Duncan McNeill] at the end of the episode, and he was standing on an apple box because God forbid you’re the same height as the girl. And then, I made out with him [Tim Russ] in real life.”
Sources tell Deadline that while plot details are being kept under wraps, the project is an origin story that takes place decades before the 2009 Star Trek film that rebooted the franchise. Insiders add that the final chapter in that main series, Star Trek 4, remains in active development.
the “common sense” of star trek is that anything that happened before nero’s invasion in star trek 09 happened in both universes so it will be very funny and complicated for the fanbase to untangle if they just make the past fully alternate (which strange new worlds is already halfway doing)
