Spring Cleaning 2019

I’d also recommend having Steam (IIRC you play predominantly on Steam) start in Big Picture Mode because that UI is much better at presenting limited/focused options than the inveterate winAMPesque skeleton.

If you have PC purchases spread across platforms, something like Playnite (a launcher for launchers) might be helpful for just remembering everything you have access to.

Thanks a lot for the tips!

What’s funny is that at least half the games on the list are games I started, got really into and then stopped playing them/abandoned them for another game. It’s not that I lost interest and should cut them out, I really love, for example, DQ11 or Bloodstained. I just didn’t finish them because of, I guess, mental problems. Must be some sort of mix of anxiety and procrastination. Or just some other character kink, idk

Didn’t you talk about having ADHD or at least symptoms of it like hyperfocus? That’s totally the way my partner does books - she keeps a meticulous queue on Goodreads but has to bounce around a lot.

I’d say that’s also another reason to think about looking for simpler UI frontends.

I’m definitely always relieved when I go into big picture mode lol

I use it a lot even for non-steam games because it makes the DS4 controller work with everything. But from now on I’ll make it the standard.

I do bounce around a lot. The problem is don’t bounce back to games enough. I’ll get a grip on it eventually. Getting organized already helps a lot!

It’s also a question of money because I don’t need to buy brand new games when I have enough that I like to already finish or play more. I’m wasting money because I could just wait and buy them when they’re way cheaper and I’m ready.

I don’t think not finishing a 40 hour long videogame is indicative of anything but self respect

Is this some sort of argument for polygamy? I mean I’m definitely going to play more than 40 hours worth of videogames in the next few weeks so it might as well be spent on just one very good one, no?

Videogames are not people, so,

then why can’t you spell polygamy without gam(e)?

jeez, no need to be so serious!

Anyway, I like long games sometimes even though I prefer them to be less than 20 hours long. 4-12 is probably ideal for most things. Those are only a third of my list though, so idk

I’m just going to list my ps4 backlog since anything older than that I consider abandoned at this point.

Siren
Detroit(currently playing… might deem it unworthy of finishing)
God of war
re2 jill playthrough
Shenmue 1 + 2(over half way through 1)
Yakuza 0
Yakuza kiwami
Horizon
Fire pro wrestling world(a game I’ll never be finished playing but still haven’t put enough time in)
Sekiro(got to first boss and kind of gave up)
Dark souls 2

So the article is about people questing for immortality (or a simulated experience thereof) and meanwhile I’m like “Yo put me under so I can finish the 90-hour CRPG in an afternoon, thanks”
