whats the worst game to speedrun. is it 100% baten kaitos?
i am learning the beginner category for earthbound⦠not sure if that is interesting to anyone. iām still not 100% decided, that game is mostly random, but itās appealing somehow
do you play other games or only the ones you speedrun? ive been wondering how runners divide their times between running and just casually playing
i remember that really grating spongebob runner said I CANāT PLAY ANY GAMES NORMALLY ANYMORE. is a common opinon?
i mean, iām not the best person to ask because iām not the biggest fan of āplaying videogamesā (though this is a new phase. earlier in my life i wanted nothing more than to Always Be Playing Games). but yeah thereās definitely some truth to that for a lot of runners.
for me, though, the shit i like is really specific and there isnāt really that much of it, so i get by better this way. taking the experiences i already love and transforming them into speedruns (from which i can milk endless hours of optimization and theorycrafting and grinding out runs) is absolutely the most rewarding way for me to engage with the games i love the most.
now, one thing about what you said which is definitely true for most runners: you canāt really play the specific games you speedrun the same way casually again after youāve speedrun them for long enough. shit is⦠different.
it doesnāt really impact how other games affect me, though. i can play through games normally no problem, but, like⦠i donāt want to? there arenāt a lot of games coming out i give the slightest fuck about? i like old games, and i like digging deep into games instead of playing a whole bunch of them, on the whole. iām more into trivia and knowledge than āi have played all thingsā
right now i donāt really play any games other than what iām speedrunning, because thatās whatās bringing me the most enjoyment by far. there are no other games iād rather be playing than working on my runs.

new Halo 2 coop glitch breaks game wide open
During the first part of the video, I am only using one controller, but controlling both points of view. After that I do a nade jump to kill myself and activate the dead/alive glitch. This glitch is really weird. It allows one player to be dead, but kind of alive. The result is that you can put them past death barriers and then spawn on them

I donāt even know why I ever thought I understood this game at all.

Okay, so I have some understanding and explanation for this. When a cutscene happens in co-op the game will merge one of the players into the other one. This is noticable when you end a level and the screen turns to white briefly, you see the secondary player merge with the primary player then the custcene starts. I think this is so only one camera is āshowing the cutsceneā. So somehow this merge happened while having control of the player. What I didnāt know is that one of players is in the preloaded state when merged with a ānormalā player, so thatās why when you jumped to your death the preloaded player died and created the dead and alive glitch. So what we are seeing is the player merge that normally happens during a cutscene when the players are stashed out of sight happen with control during normal play. Pretty fuckin awesome.
so for example we can skip the big elevator with the death barrier under it
then it was discovered you can respawn as different units, not just a dead body
and now
