[SOTC] Fame is but a transient, colossal shadow ~~~

Newsflash:
Random Internet guy pissing on parade actually has no idea what he’s talking about!
That’d be me then.

A friend on mine asked me yesterday how i can be so sure that the shrines do not auto-save, and whether i even died once during the game. Yes, I did die, at the last colossus, and respawned at the beginning of the boss fight.
So i started a new game, went for a ride south and did just pray at one of the shrines before hopping off and getting myself killed properly, and lo and behold, they do save your progress.

The difference is that you, the player, are not offered the savegame UI.

so tl;dr,

  • bluepoint are redeemed, they’ve done an even better job,
  • i have no idea what i am talking about
  • and the sound you’ll hear in the background will be me shooting myself in the face for not dying like a real man, and instead jumping to conclusions.

Well, I think the game auto-saves after every important event, eg. tail collected, fruit eaten, collossus defeated. The shrines being a collectible means that yes, it autosaves when you pray at one. But since they are also the spawn points, when you die or load your game, you will start at the last shrine you prayed at.

Took agro for a spin yesterday to show off the remake to siblings, and found myself wondering not quite at each and every turn, but on various occasions “did it save here already?” and i guess that finding those golden glittering things may also count to the list of things that save (you). But boy, mirror world mode already made me get lost, that will be a fun run…
