it was the first Sonic media i actually owned lol, i had a handful of issues from ~45-100 (including the whole Endgame arc) just from begging my parents for them when i saw them at magazine stands. got a Genesis with Sonic 2 a few years later (but the first actual game i played was a demo for the PC version of Sonic CD)

Drives me nuts that they let so many people draw Archie Sonic who couldn’t draw Sonic at all, especially Ken Penders
I’d always be so annoyed reading the issues he drew because Sonic looked so goddamn ugly, but I’d still buy them like an idiot childbaby

that’s true! and the spin-off series sonic universe came out entirely in that era, so it’s worth tracking down the whole run if you hven’t read it. it shows how abruptly sega ended the archie relationship that universe’s final arc was left unfinished

As someone who’s two major wikihead interests are DC Comics and Sonic the hedgehog I was incredibly excited to see Flash just straight up call Sonic “Krakkl”, the old DC Character from the 90s who was basically Just Sonic.

Wild to me that they setup chronologically all the wild stuff from every game like Sonic Unleashed’s setting, Sonic Riders, and even that ancient people who brought the chaos emeralds from space (?) evolved into the Chao
Also that Sonic Shuffle totally happened lol
Guess Sonic and the Secret Rings and Black Knight didn’t happen though, those were all a Wii fantasy

Seeing Sonic 4 as the chronologically first game of the “modern” era makes sense but is still absolutely wild to think about.
I’d say the biggest thing the timeline is missing story wise is the Sonic Rivals games which should be the [new] first meeting with Silver and Eggman Nega. Although they are missing other canonical games like Advance 1, Chaotix, Triple Trouble, etc so I guess they simply aren’t listing EVERYTHING.
