Who’s the giant lamb sonic girl?

lanolin which always makes me think of the one from us acres

Oh shit, she’s from Riverside

My friend went to college in Riverside and got his car stolen there. When he got the car back, the thieves tagged RIVERSIDE in all caps like they were screaming all over his dashboard in sharpie. Since then, whenever I read the word Riverside, I always imagined it’s screamed out.

Anyway, I don’t know anything about Lanolin and I’m not saying Lanolin wouldn’t steal my friend’s car BUT

First appearance a Sonic comic in 2018–so likely an Anchorman reference?

lanolin is also just like, sheep oil

Yes I learned that from Anchorman. ^ _^ So it could just be in my head but I mean isn’t that line in like everybody’s head? Is it just meeeeeee?? = oo

i guess i’m coming from a slightly more agrarian economy than the median US resident but lanolin was something i learned about when i was a kid lol. i can’t tell from reading these posts whether the character was a US or UK creation but i feel like the latter probably has sheep farming situated relatively prominently in its imaginary

though then again maybe a US creator would think they were being really clever with a name like that, you’re right …

Sleazy’s Sonic Wiki link about Lanolin points to this comic issue as her first appearance

crediting Ian Flynn as the writer

who is American-Canadian, born in 1982 in Charlotte, North Carolina–so ~22 when Anchorman hit theaters in 2004: probably right in that target audience demographic for it.

“Lana Lynn” is a plausible enough feminine name, it’s a really strong pun by Sonic standards.

i hope it’s not an anchorman reference tbh

also, though ian flynn wrote the issue, i think she might have been the artist’s existing oc that he drew in there and she gradually got promoted to actual character (she is just a nameless extra in her first few appearances, so it’s possible that the artist put her in as some self-fanservice). that mgiht just be a years-old rumour that i’m misremembering though
