actually, have they released any of these things on blu ray yet?
iāve been playing Sonic Adventure again and iām not sure if i can ever divorce true objective feelings from the nostalgic ones in a meaningful way other than the obvious fact that itās so hilariously janky with dated mechanics, but what really stands out is how nice it feels just wandering around these big blocky hub worlds with jpeg sunsets and low poly greenery, even now. seeing 25 years out how much the y2k aesthetic and art from this game specifically has come back around to gen z online kids who love their frutigers and āweb glossā. what an insanely wild swing this game was in 1999. also, obviously, the soundtrack is easily one of the greatest of all time.

the game and geraldās journal and everything has basically leaked at this point if youāre looking for it
geraldās journal spoiler itās interesting to actually see a picture of robotnikās dad and mariaās dad. sadly no specifics confirming that gerald got the idea for a hedgehog from the angel island mural but it does have an angel island section. there is a picture of gloveless shadow emerging from his birthing chamber which is extremely illegal to see these toon hands
game spoilerās because even regular generations itself has been re-edited, re-dubbed, and reanimated they have made the old game more in line with the ian flynn status quo. for instance, instead of tails thinking the chemical planet maybe looked kinda familar in the 2011 version the new version has tails be like āthis is the westside island chemical plantā. all traces of amy being horny for sonic have been removed. scenes where the sonic friends do cartoony face grabs or punch each other have been reanimated. they removed the fat jokes. they added the chao from the tie-in comic to the birthday scene. just a sort of total overhaul which iām sure someone will mod back in the old cutscenes if you want them.
two story retcons: maria was no longer born in space. she specifically mentions remembing how good the food in spagonia was from before she was sick. thatās probably the most controversial one since so much of her personality is wondering what earth is like. the second one is kinda funny. in sonic generations, sonic beats shadow and takes his chaos emerald. in shadow generations. thereās a cutscene where shadow lets him win on purpose and gives him a fake emerald to keep him busy until rogue switches it out later before he gets to the final boss. they kinda back to the future 2 it in a way. also generally interesting to hear the new voice actors for characters who have not spoken since the 4kids era like black doom, metal overlord, and mephiles.

i saw some hype around the 2024 idw annual in the few days between it coming out and going to the comic shop for my copy.

Iād be fine with more Generation/time travel Sonic games if they did more stuff like this but to the next level. Gimme more dumb plots like Future Sonic having to be inside piloting one of the Egg Robo bosses in the Genesis games just to ensure Classic Sonic stays focused and continues future game continuity.
But in reality, Sonic would probably just team up together and have fun busting heads and goofing off?? What would OVA Sonic do if he hung out with Adventure Sonic? Just race all day, right? 
Now I also want to see Amy Generations and the nonsense they could get up to. Hell, give me Rogue Generations and itās just her modern incarnation together with a lower poly DC version, letās just be stupid shameless lol
