The year was 2200, cookie clicker had long since stopped being updated, but the quality and quantity of comunity made mods had skyrocketed. People would spend hours modding their cookie clicker games just like they now do with skyrim.
But the thing was, one user had made a sex mod that got popular but for the completely wrong reasons. People were ignoring the nsfw aspects of the mod and focusing on the new golden cookie buffs and buildings, and the mod creator was so mad about it.
Warptank was reportedly inspired by a datdream the author had on the couch in the UFOSoft offices.
when i was a kid in the mid 90s, before i had played an fps, i once dreamed i was playing a video game / real life airsoft game / extrapolation from the concept of playing bomberman on a multitap [something i never actually did until last year’s sbcon] set in a bombed-out middle eastern city. it was just a big chaotic deathmatch format thing with a kind of leaderboard based on the UI of snes mario kart. the phrase “battle baghdad” drifted through the dream, i thought the name was kind of dumb but that’s what it was. i consider it a prophetic sending about de_dust
action/strategy game: an arena divided into grid squares, where you control a smoothly rolling platform with a mounted gun, placing fortifications and artillery onto the squares. i think build time was instant but they varied in price, and presumably you got money by killing enemies.
one thing i’m not so sure about is how collision would work: the low level fortifications were virtually flat so it seemed like you rolled over or phased through them without it being too distracting. wouldn’t want to trap yourself in a corner, but i dunno if that means enemies follow different logic to you.
the arena itself was set above an ocean like an oil rig.
Pyramid monster game
Based on a dream - a monster chases the player avatar and if it catches them, attempts to trap them in a pyramid it constructs on top of them. Player must ascend/descend ziggurats of bone to escape. Monster catches player with its jaws, “supplexes” them backward and begins to stack sections of pyramid on top of the player avatar.
almost all my dreams are formatted like video games, which is good because im almost never scared even of terrible things, and i usually find myself quicksaving and quickloading as well
but most of my dreams are boring so for this thread, they’re not so helpful. unless you think “shopping in a mall” is a good video game
i had a dream about a game called MegaBlood many years ago that i still think about a lot. you were like some contract killer/colonizer scum on Mars who carried a knife around at all times and went into like ancient creatures’ caves to steal their organs. they had you do it because it was highly dangerous and morally bankrupt work and you were inherently disposable. it looked a bit like a late 80’s/early 90’s PC game - something like this though it was a bit more catamites-y
had a dream that if you played killer7 enough times you could unlock a secret ending where you fight hundreds of heaven smiles in a city square outside of a monolithic pink skyscraper and it ended with a screen that said “story will continue in killer.98”
Only kind of game related but I think it’s funny and weird enough to count.
I had a dream that there was a subreddit called “Ask Professor Oak” where every week a new user was elected as Professor Oak and got a chance to answer Pokémon questions in character as Professor Oak.
