recently I changed my Firefox theme to Dream of Waves and gives me a sense of lightly.
coming back to say this video is a good overview of browser UX and i’m still using zen daily, it’s still really good for reading and focus
tl;dr “vivaldi zen and orion are better versions of the big 3” [i.e. chrome firefox safari]
tailscale is so fucking cool. just learned that you can use it as secure file transfer (taildrop) between your devices
and you can share your local services (servers etc) over the public internet without exposing your IP (tailscale funnel)
rn i’m just using tailscale to share music server with digs. also contrary to what i previously thought I can share my navidrome server with her w/o having her scrobble to last.fm - just have to set up a separate navidrome user for her, scrobbling is enabled on a per-user basis, duh. (navidrome asks for a last.fm API key for config but the scrobbling setting is per user)
I have a bunch of friends there, they’re one of like a half dozen good early stage all-remote commercial open source companies rn and almost all the ex digitalocean people are at one of those half dozen
they started out basically just doing wireguard as a service but you know what that’s a great model and there’s lots to product-ize there so good for them
it’s one of the only tech products i’ve used in the last ten years that actually makes me like computers again, good for them
This looks like something that could solve a few things for me production-wise. I’m reading the docs now and they don’t seem immediately elucidating. Any tips for getting this set up on a home network quickly? Can I just set up a PC on the network, install/configure the software and set up a user?

pretty much yeah
i don’t think i had to do anything particularly complex, it’s got a pretty good wizard iirc
my ideal rpg experience
I finally found a good epub reader for android: Book’s Story. Looks nice and doesn’t have a ridiculous array of options (like e.g. Moon+).
I’m glad I don’t daily drive Mac OS. I can’t believe how bad liquid glass is lmao.
They toned it down over the course of the betas, and I don’t hate the final result, tbh, there’s some fun things happening but why on earth. I did still turn off all the transparency effects in the Accessibility options after a few days, and the gigantic rounded window corner radius, double and triple margins around sidebars, are an…odd choice. Almost fun to be plunged back into the boiled corn syrup soup of aero and aqua release candidates.
God help us running this nonsense on a telephone though.
Part of me has a lot of respect for the 2009 throwback UI though! I think I’ll be more okay with it on mobile, but I updated my Mac first.
Frutiger Aero, baby!
They let Jony nail Scott Forstall to the cross so that these Glassmorphism children could force us to live like this
My poor Mom just got used to iOS18
They massacred my boy

Get a load of this garbage can lmfao

They even managed to make transparency effects look as bad as the laughable ones in Windows 7 (VISTA?). And Apple used to have really awesome transparency effects. This rules!
i was running 18 with a bunch of the accessibility stuff turned on to make it more tolerable and 26 looked fucking terrible on first boot
reduce transparency still helps a lot mind
