smash fighting and platforms together

I get the same thing and, to me, it reflects that how I like to characterize Nintendo vs. Sega sensibilities; Nintendo was always focused on readability and clarity, at the expense of showmanship, and Sega on spectacle, sometimes at the expense of understanding. It’s easy to make cool things happen but, personally, if I don’t understand how I made it happen, I don’t feel connected or satisfied (it’s related to my discomfort with AI allies in games and the Call of Duty campaign style).

Button mashing in a traditional fighter doesn’t feel like it helps me climb a ladder to understanding and I always prefer to slow down, take it one or two moves at a time. In that sense, hearing an explanation of Street Fighter that it’s about two or three moves per character really, really helps.
