i actually sincerely hate how the effects look. the hit and blocksparks are super noisy and, paired with the kinda weird hit sound effects, hits feel… not very satisfying? tons of blur and weirdly overly transparent effects.

Granted it’s all a work in progress, but Terry in particular needs some work.
I find the effects about half and half. Iori and Kyo seem light years ahead in terms of effect design, making heavy use of combining this kind of layered, flat fire effect with smoke, embers, blur, and screenshake (I particularly like the weird water effect they have on Iori’s flames). Some people like like Yuri seem okay even if their effects are less intense. But then there’s Terry, whose stuff is just too brief and blends together into a mess, and Joe, who’s effects just don’t work at all.
Overall I think I’d like to see some more variety in the effect styles rather than everything coming off as different shades of fire. That block effect is also really intense for normal blocking. I assumed it was just blocking at first.

My gut was Lin but if this is actually Botan like I see a lot of people guessing then KOF15’s tagline is earned. Need a whole Tales of Ash team (or three). That arc had way too many characters that need more screentime.

For real though, that bit sticking out on the right next to the head has to be a hand with some very JoJo fingers though and not some weird Longcat scarf, right?
The bit sticking out at the bottom right is clearly the character’s gigantic ass however.

So the current unaffiliated characters are (in order of reveal):
Yuri
Yashiro

Mai
We know from the teaser picture that Yashiro is back with the New Faces team, Shermie and Chris (I wonder what they’ll be called now). Women Fighters clearly isn’t Yuri/King/Mai this time. The easiest assumptions are they’re split between an AOF team and the Women Fighters, unless these are new team themes.
I’ve been trying to think of who has a fuzzy collar and I can only think of Botan and Mr. Big (who could fit in an AOF team). It could be a new design element on an old character. It would be sick if it were the Garou version of Blue Mary for the Women Fighters, though that’s in the opposite direction of the female character design sensibilities from modern SNK and the silhouette is not nearly baggy enough.
