Shin Mikami Tension

I’d say so at this point. Like everyone else, my enthusiasm for the game waned in the final act.

When I left the safe house during my first jaunt through the city, I spotted a dimly lit chapel and thought to myself, “hmm, what might that be?” and was treated to something approaching fine literature AND a Paul W.S. Anderson film.

I won’t spoil it but it was expertly crafted and perfectly curated moment of narrative exposition, world building and tense action. Unfortunately, the quality of these moments varied and were spread unevenly within the rest of the world but the chapel scenario will be the pilot light fueling my enthusiasm for the game in the darkness.

Can confirm. Was expecting a full right hook of James but was met with a swift jab of Jay that left me stunned.

I just started this and shout out to the surreality of a video game house with normal proportions in the beginning

Evil Within 1 and 2 are on Game Pass. I’ve never played either, and I’m very tempted to skip straight to 2. Would I regret that?

I tried doing that and it did nothing for me, evidently it has more resonance after the first one but I don’t think it holds up well enough against RE7 and newer

i think the first one is a better game. they’re both on game pass, so it’s probably worth at least trying the first hour or two of the first game.

I’ve played both and thought very little of either (even recorded a podcast with Adilegian about the first). Then Adi turned around and loved the 2nd so IDK.

Both kind of just felt like video games to me!

It’s been years since I’ve beaten 2 but I remember it being interesting. I would like to play it again at some point.
