someone wrote a really harrowing blog about cleaning out her dad’s VW hoard after he died. it pretty much got scrapped. most of it was useless and even the shit they took to swap meets didn’t move. i detest the hoarder/acquisition/“protection” mentality of old car guys so much.

my stepfamily’s attitude has been “light a match and burn it all down” and I think I’m the only one in the extended family who has any interest at all in saving anything. There’s multiple barns that he’s built that are just filled with old cars and assorted junk. My mom has spent a few years trying to get it somewhat habitable by clearing out paths through rooms. Anyway.

i think i remember this car from a previous ad, because it had a VR6 and it was a GTI Golf. I think these folks bought it and gave up. Tempting because a VR6 in one of these would be rowdy. And they body is in good shape.
