the guy who burned my discs of mahou sentai magiranger (2005) fansubs back then said he watched an episode and “it was like harry potter power rangers”
this is all ancient boomer shit about final fantasy. yoshi-p, natsuko ishikawa and masayoshi soken are the names that matter now
nomura’s contribution to ffxiv was this goth girl with big lips, and while we appreciate your service to this country, it’s time for the urn now old man.
don’t get me wrong I agree that I’m not a person!
Didn’t mean to exclude anyone, just didn’t remember that anyone else felt that way
I know I just wanted busted to see another take and I can’t help making that kind of joke
the more i think about this the more i like it. xander cage is a final fantasy ass name if i’ve ever heard one
nah, I ain’t about to let us do one of those things where someone intolerable stays around long enough that their sheer inertia eventually makes everyone like them: nomura fuckin’ blows. he was an offensively bad character designer who somehow accrued enough power to also be bad at everything else. VIII still had pretty good designs though, anyone can have their time in the sun if you get enough cracks at it.
Never played Type 0 but got a chuckle out of warning a huge podcast when it came out when Nick called it the best FF game in over a decade.
consider this: you’re wrong
there are so many people playing ff xiv that it may be the only exposure to ff at all any of them hsve parkers right sorry
Nah, all the FF games still sell great digitally and so much of FFXIV is homage it wouldn’t shock me if that’s leading some folks back to the main franchise.
And as always, I fail to see why Yoshi-P Final Fantasy and Nomura Final Fantasy can’t co-exist because…objectively, they do.
i like nomura because i love ff vi and lulu and cloud and axel and yuffie and that’s good enough for me
final fantasy will tear us apart again
i think final fantasy is very good. i think the people who made the final fantasy for me and my friends are pretty cool. those belts look very heavy! thanks, final fantasers
my hottest take is that yuna is still the best and most loving and most graceful representation of autism spectrum in a mass market video game. i love her. ffx is actually really really good it really makes me sad that the defacto reaction is “its goofy, therefore it is juvenile”
i feel like it’s often said that whichever FF game you start with is your favorite (or that era of FF is, at least), and while i think that’s true, like there is clearly a thing that happened internally at Square during the transition from SNES to Playstation and beyond.
i like all the games, honestly, except for maybe IX. i am mostly ambivalent about Nomura, but i definitely was sad when the character designs shifted away from Amano-style stuff.
Tidus is a hideous character, though.
i sometimes wonder if my semi-recent love for Hawaii in the past decade would change my attitude about FFX and its aesthetics. maybe the game is better with Japanese voice acting? which i think is accessible in the HD remasters?
good battle system, though.
in some ways i think it took me (and maybe many) the better part of the 2000s to get over what had happened to FF, and only now i can make bold statements like “FFXIII is one of the best games ever made.”
what enlightened thoughts await me in the next 20 years?
best final fantasy plot is ‘play dress up to beat the interdimensional tree man’ imo
Wait people disliked FF10 because of the tropical island environments? That was like… the only good thing about FF10. That and the visible turn order
