unfortunately I believe the homeworld games are opengl and thus impervious to dgvoodoo

ok well that’s good to know. in retrospect I didn’t have any problems playing hw2 on windows 10 a few years ago so I could relieve the glory days of pds, so it’s probably fine…

opengl, software rendering, and Direct3D. plus a second opengl option. i could only get D3D and software rendering to work

Had to replay the final DLC mission because it for some reason ate an extremely good weapon I had equipped prior to (I guess it’s supposed to unequip it for you since your doing some subterfuge stuff, but instead deletes it entirely?), but I’m done with the Claws of Awaji DLC, ergo I have had just about my fill with the whole damn Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
Would love (“love”) to wander aimlessly for several more hours to find the eight or ten missing dishes for the fat Chinese cook or the scattered Jizo shrines for the sad maiden or the boring VR challenge levels that flesh out the modern day story they don’t really care about, but I’m done!! It’s deleted!! It’s done!!

I am replaying Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor after playing it on my PS4 over a decade ago. I am trying to play games I already have in my steam library instead of buying new things to play due to all that money trouble I talk about in other threads. I am in the second area of the game and I have no recollection of it. I thought I beat the game all those years ago but maybe I didn’t. I should dig out my ps4 copy and see where I got to.

I’ve had my eye on Silly Polly Beast for a while, and I decided to try it out this weekend. I’m close to the end now, and I’ve been pretty impressed with the game. There are some annoyances and some incongruities, but overall I’ve found it to be quite stylish and varied.
It’s yet another game about a character’s traumatic background manifesting in a horror world. The horror parts get pretty mean and sometimes gross. But maybe the familiar tropes and cartoonish character designs keep it from being too disturbing.
I can’t imagine playing on a difficulty level other than easy, but that might just be me.

Okay, I beat the game. It’s good, though there are some frustrating/confusing parts at the end. Two tips for anyone who might play this and wants some tips (mild spoilers):
- Be sure you have the automatic weapon for the last part. There’s a chase sequence I can’t see being possible without it. (And it’s kind of a pain even with it.)
- In the final showdown, running into the fog in the middle can be helpful.
Apparently I got one of several endings. I guess I’ll have to watch videos of the other ones.

The goal seems to be this gray tower, could it be a dark twisted mirror of…?
At first I tried starting as Sharline (not a name you see in games) but was completely lost and walked off a cliff and died pretty quickly with no save. Choosing Darius (above) gets you a little more context, a weapon and a tutorial garden to figure things out in.
The clothing is interesting
The combat and control generally is kind of stiff. You have a dash that eats your attack strengh bar, you have no dodge, jump or block. The right stick is unused. You have special moves that are tied to equipment. Ive fought two bigger foes and the winning move is just to bait them into attacking hit them and then walk around them while pumping dash. If the game gets harder with such simple options its going to suck.
You can buy cheap full heals from a shop inside the save point menu. There seems to be no leveling up which I appreciate.
It has from stats.
I got a tree aligned weapon and hit a tree aligned enemy and healed it.
Its not an unfun game. I got sucked in for over an hour. It has an air of weird mystery and it is visually interesting if simple. Im just so curious about it.
Also its voice acted and the delivery is very House of the Dead at times.
