Before I start playing this: It’s entirely 100% co-opable without any shenanigans regarding multiplayer, so you can just drop into and out of your friends’ games without having to Roleplay the entire process.
I have it on PS4. Hint hint.
The only thing that kinda gets me is the weird Ninja-Turtle-Lookin’ humans in this game, but eh. If I could put up with Hey Arnold Link in Wind Waker, I can put up with Donatello Souls Character I guess.
I swear I am the only person in the universe who hates that Link. I love the art style of Wind Waker, except for that fucking idiotic-looking football headed Link. To this day I have no idea what the fuck they were thinking. Who thought “Yeah let’s make Link look like a fucked up cross between Stewie from Family Guy and Willow Ufgood” and why was that person not immediately fired?
also hey turns out there is one shenanigan re: co-op and it’s that you have to be on the same fucking couch so THANKS FOR GETTING MY HYPE ALL UP FOR NOTHING
So yeah this is pretty much exactly what you would expect when you combine Dark Souls and Symphony of the Night times Indie Budget (not a bad thing, just means no VO, etc.)
Kinda hard to tell how big it is at this point, but things are already branching around nicely, and I wandered into an area I shouldn’t have gone and was promptly annihilated by a surprise boss.
Although I should point out that this game doesn’t wear its inspiration on its sleeve so much as don a skin suit made from it, such is the attempt to cling to the aesthetic and feel and soforth. Weirdly, though, it works.
