SaGa SCARLET GRACE: AMBITIONS Kawazu Club- the first new SaGa game in over 10 years

Dang, that’s cool. I had heard Urpina has the most possible variations in her endings and while I don’t know the details I do know that decision you make does give you access to some different characters later on. Choosing “save” feels like the right thing to do plot-wise but your option sounds like it gives cooler characters. Spoilers on that: By saving Antonius you can recruit him later on. By killing him, you can instead recruit not just Urpina’s dad but also her mom! I haven’t met her as far as I can remember but she sounds cool from how she’s been talked about.

Yeah I kinda felt like the game wanted me to kill the brother when it asked me a second time, and Urpina did it but felt super guilty about it. It’s gone all sorts of directions since then. I have like 15 characters in my party now, some of whom I have never used. I just did a bunch of small pilgrimages and fought off a giant blood slime thing that eventually turned into a giant monster. I think I only have like one more shard to find, maybe? I should probably go see my dad.

i really shouldn’t be surprised that the ancient elemental weapon i did a long sidequest for turned out to be basically worthless

Yeah I got the volcano one and it doesn’t seem great?

That one dude keeps going on and on about them though. Do they at least have unique techs?

Also booji how’d you get the volcano one? I couldn’t figure out what to do.

I had to free the animal trapped in the reservoir, then somehow get the volcano to erupt, the fight what hatched from the egg the volcano spit out, I think? It’s been like a week since I did that and it felt like a lovely accident.

This game often feels like a lovely accident and I dig that.

Yeah, I figured I’d have to kill what’s in the volcano but I think I’ve completed every node on the map and the volcano hasn’t fully erupted. It’s got debris shooting out at least. I know the hot springs seems to reverse the eruption progress so maybe that order affects the outcome. I had assumed I needed to prevent the eruption so I was using the hot springs to revert the volcano as I worked my way through the region. I’ll have to try again on another playthrough.

If you visit too many hot springs you cannot finish that quest and that volcano will forever be in a state of pre eruption

The legendary weapons can be upgraded in prism weapon shops and become pretty good!

Shouldn’t I get a reward for that though

Didn’t I save everyone

I had assumed if the volcano erupted I’d lose the town underneath it so I tried to keep the volcano from erupting.

absolutely incredible

Drem: Fair assumption but this game goes out of its way to defy expectations and not systemically reward good behavior

At one point some enemies were threatening to destroy a dam to flood a village, I went to the village to evacuate everyone but the villagers said « yeaaaaaah we don’t want to go… the gods will protect us anyway »

I killed the enemies, protected the dam, went back to the village, and the villagers went all « see, we didn’t need to evacuate » and i got no rewards

Maybe I could have gotten a cool sword if I just had let everybody drown?

This game is making me become the guy in Mother 3 who says « I have some good news, and some bad news » at the end of Chapter 1

what are you supposed to do with that baby anyway

I just gave it to an orphanage because ???

most of the techs are pretty bad for their cost but Millionare is the strongest of the “way too much BP” techs i’ve seen from any of the weapons

something i’ve never stopped thinking about this game is that every story scene has the same energy as a very specific genre of mobile game ad

Yeesh, and I thought Urpina had a dark streak. I heard from the localization team that apparently Urpina’s personality can change greatly in several directions throughout her playthrough based on your decisions.

Oh yeah, and the dude in the orange. Do they make NPC jokes about him in Taria’s playthrough too? When I found him in Urpina’s story he first appears as a generic looking knight and when he joins you later in his regular orange clothes no one recognizes who he is. I hope more of these generic looking soldiers are secretly real people who just wear boring uniforms at work.

Urpina straight up lied to her dad about killing her brother, as in “he died, aww” not “I killed him” so that doesn’t surprise me.

wow

there’s no gamefaqs for this game, should we start some or would that be against the spirit of this thing
