Rivals Of Marvel

This feels like a game at least two people on this forum have or might play. From my limited exposure I’ve greatly enjoyed piecing together which 4-5 overwatch abilities have been smashed together in the name of IP and greatly disenjoyed everything else.

Excited to see what new version of ChatGPT will provide dialogue for Deadpool when the servers go through their own dead pool in a few years.

Went to the store page and started the launch trailer. Anime Theme Song Music begins. First image is an anime girl wearing Galactus cosplay twirling while winking at the camera.

Need to see how much of a train wreck this is.

I will play this soon, then report on my finding

Ok this game is actually good but I can’t play as Anime Girl Galactus.

Got a full 6 stack going last night in Discord. I suspect the game is greatly benefitting from being new and popular in terms of the player base being casual and experimenting. This was my same experience with the first 2 weeks of Apex Legends coming out. No established meta and even the try-hards we encountered were friendly and experimenting with wacky ways of engaging. Dr. Strange Portals above their head to snipe through. Flying Iron Man behind their back line to fire missiles.

One of the great unsolved problems with multiplayer games is how to maintain the community attitude of “were all just here to have fun”. It’s always a brief window before the casuals either leave or become more competitive, and the greater ratio of competitive players causes the competitive to get more competitive and the new would-be casuals to leave after a few matches of getting blown out.

The actual game is off-brand Overwatch. There’s a lightness to the character design and abilities that makes it feel more like you’re playing with action figures. Less care for balance than fulfilling the power fantasy of the characters. The physics are kind of jank in a fun and satisfying way.

Will play more. Probably a great game to play drunk, but never to take seriously.

no, no

this is Galactica. she’s his daughter. Adam Warren.

some characters are basically OW heroes (Squirrel Girl is 95% Junkrat; Cloak and Dagger is not just Moira but specifically a version of Moira that existed in the OW2 beta for a week before being reverted to her base kit) while their design philosophy towards others seems more offensive minded (the tanks, all the tanks want you to get in and get your hands dirty)

it’s good now even though it’s literally repeating the cycle of Overwatch so I expect some kind of role queue (even though single tank/single support comps work well if idiots pay attention to line of sight and positioning the fuckers) and dialing back one-shots and then they add a tank that turns the game into a shield shooting simulator and then supports get overtuned and then we all migrate to Sony taking Concord assets and making a good game with them for a few months

I’ve had some fun, but not sure how I feel about it really yet.

I do think they need to something about Spider-man.

Willing to jump in for late night rounds if you have slots.
