Damn, they really went all out
Sora is basically exactly how he should play and it rules. I already got the Axel spirit because of who I am as a person.
Sora’s magic is hilarious at times. Edge guards with lightning are great.
I don’t like him. He’s annoying to fight and annoying to play as. He has the bad cross section of being light and slow. He doesn’t feel responsive and has a weak punish game. He does have a unique feel to his auto attacks but leads into feeling like you are giving up control. He’s also able to spam fire then anti air with thunder with one button so he can camp on a good stage and match up.
Yeah, I’d still have had almost anyone else. This is the one character choice I will play my entitled nerd card on.
Yeah I don’t like playing against or as him either tbh, the consecutive homing attack thing feels weird and cheap and the camping that you can do with his magic also isn’t great. Went in kinda blindly because I like a lot of what they’ve done with DLC characters this time around (Kazuya is so so much fun and such a better execution of the grounded close-combat glass cannon concept that they first tried with Little Mac), but Sora just feels real awkward. Very basic character with weird particularities that don’t strike me as particularly clever or fun.
I’ve only played against him briefly online, so couldn’t really get a feel for what he’s like to play against because online feels underwater anyway. Also I kept spiking him with pyra down air. If he didn’t want to die maybe he shouldn’t have jumped under me?
I feel like visually w/ his animation, weight and timing they definitely captured his KH ness.
see this is what I was afraid of, bc they have always done a great job making every character play in a way that feels faithful to their games, and both movement and combat in kingdom hearts games has always felt like slapping wet cardboard against a rolled up yoga mat.
I get his goal was to make a simpler character after the rest of the DLC having alot of oddballs and highly technical characters but I think sora would’ve been more interesting if he was a form juggler or mode changer from KH 2. Since I dropped off after 2 I have no clue what other gimmicks the other games added to the formula. I’d be more into the idea of him having a bar that would build up to 3 stocks. 1 for Valor or Wisdom and 3 for Master/Final. Be a weird combo of Sephiroth/Kazuma comback factors and Jokers persona bar and shulk. Let you augment the parts that feel bad or pay for the better tools.
While I learned to love DQ Hero’s menu gambling something about having to cycle through spell orders is something that never feels good to me.
My impression of kingdom hearts 3 combat was that you mostly assault shadowmen with weaponised disneyland attractions
Those would’ve been a much more inspired choice to draw on for his final smash.
Yeah, but they would require more Disney involvement, which given the scrubbing of Goofy and Donald from the backgrounds, seems unlikely.
there’s an evil ryu spirit this week that when leveled and trained in damage dojo has higher dps than the previous highest akuma who was already a murder machine on his own. you can really destroy some fools in just a couple hits
Gacha powercreep is always a sad thing to see
Reminded when I kept screaming Dairantou Sumabura
