if i randomly fancy playing ocarina of time, what’s the best way in 2024? is there some windows source port or something?

yes

late but there’s a ton of old texture cd-roms on archive that i’ve been digging through recently - i’ve been assuming they’re “free” in the sense of like abandonware but it might depend on how above board you wanna be. i like the very specific bakku no oni ones but the all purpose collections (autodesk, marlin studios) seem like the most broadly useful.

general q for people: i am thinking of getting a ps4 to catch up on the bleeding edge of computer games. i know piracy is the best answer for this but does ps4 still do the thing where you can download chulip, jumping flash, siren etc from the sony network or whatever? are they turning that off yet? i come to ye for gamer’s wisdom.

chulip: not anymore
jumping flash: Jumping Flash!
siren: SIREN

bonus: siren blood curse is not available for purchase but you can play it via ps+ premium streaming (don’t do this)

i am linking to the USA store shit but i think both JF and Siren are available in the UK as well

hey in Death Stranding, when you have some reasons to recycle but you’re already at capacity for resins, does one take the reasons to a different delivery centre or do they just like. put them in a mailbox or something. like is the capacity per centre or per Sam

been a minute i think it’s per center, such that you also get increased capacities when upgrading each center

I keep wanting to try AssCree 1 which may cost money to do so wanted to know how different is AssCree 1 and 2?

1 is like a proof of concept and 2 is more refined. I think is ultimately a more interesting game because it’s more open ended. The assassinations only have a few different options for how to go about doing them but you get to decide. 2 is a lot closer to the contemporary format the series took of being a lawnmower sim where you clear map icons.

They are significantly different despite both being open world stealth games made up of mostly the same pieces? AC2 was 100% “the prior game did not quite work/hit like we hoped, let’s go lift the best practices from the other games out there and make this much more smooth/standard”; it’s also a much better game because of it.

AC1 tries to be its own thing in many ways and the actual assassinations do let you tackle them in which way you want and screw them up/pull them off as you see fit, and if I recall correctly you don’t have to do all the stuff gathering info for the big assassinations if you don’t want to. It is made up of three separate cities with a linking “wilderness” between that you can freely skip, and IMO it is the one game in the series where the current day storyline actually works fairly well as there is enough of a focus and mystery behind it that isn’t there in later games.

That said… IMO it is still more of an interesting AAA experiment that doesn’t quite work, and after you do the first investigate/assassinate cycle you’ve seen 80-90% of what the game mechanically has to offer despite there being several of those left to do. I could see one easily deciding to nope out after that, so I think you have to decide how you’d feel if things went that way for you and if you’d be satisfied or disappointed in that case.

Y’all ever have a disc just Not Work? I am really baffled by this Mushihimesama Futari disc that has like a few fine scratches but nothing serious in the scheme of discs.

I bought P.N.03 and it looked fine but wouldn’t load level 2. I also bought a copy of Symphony of the Night that straight up didn’t work, but I think that might have been a known issue with certain models of the PSX.

My visually flawless Disc 2 of Red Dead Redemption was screwed up. Game would consistently lock during the same sequence.

When the eShop was closing I scrambled to get DLC for a few games I had, and popped in my brand new Layton vs. Wright cart - dead. No reason, just dead. Looked it up online, and it was a common defect.

Hacked it and downloaded the game and DLC right after :japanese_ogre:
