I just played 90 minutes and the base game is good. I don’t have it in me to get good at the swinging but I appreciate all the collectibles being in “Try and get to this gamer.” Just there hasn’t been anything set-piece-y or novel outside of swing around and go to waypoints. I just looked at the bosses and get the feeling they had just enough time to get The Game right and not enough time to make a full video game.
the swinging is particularly neat because almost all games that designed around such acrobatic movement also have kind of floaty physics but byronic commando 2009 made it feel like any time you were not swinging you were sinking like a stone
Did the Michael Hurley RIP thread disappear or am I crazy?? Was new to his music and enjoying the bits and pieces people were posting but can’t find them anymore…
While it must have stung anyone who paid full retail value on the thing at launch I can only regard it as one of the best £5 purchases ever made
Doesn’t reinvent the wheel, repeats too many encounters and has too many hinge-worthy moments in its pathfinding that alienate anyone with a basic level of curiosity but quality jank overall
I don’t think they have anything? that is exclusive. That’s like their whole business model at this point, Xbox and Windows. Having the hardware just seems like about having a way to play 360 and Xbox original games upscaled, tbh.
it kills me to this day that Rare Replay is like maybe the only exclusive. i just want easy to access PC ports of some of those games. especially Jet Force Gemini, which is vastly improved with a modern control scheme. i’m just hoping it eventually gets a recomp like i am with a few other N64 games.
An xbox only makes sense if you don’t like pc gaming, already own a lot of og/360 games, don’t care about anything Sony has done in years (although stuff like Death Stranding is being ported now), already own a switch (but not a ps4) to cover all the “ps4 and switch only” games, and don’t care about tiny player populations in online games. So basically just me
