I swapped out my left side joycon with the Hori one, that one has a good enough D-Pad I beat the Celeste DLC with it. On the wireless side, I’ve just been using the SN30 Pro+ like everyone else and I haven’t hated it, although I didn’t use it for anything quite so demanding.
I’m very curious about that new hall-sensor’d 8bitdo pad if only just to have a decent modern one that won’t start drifting on me eventually
Tetris 99 added a joycon/pro pad direction input toggle and it seemed to fix the little trouble I was having with occasional diagonals.
Outside of Animal Crossing having zero dead zone, the pro pad’s held up very well for me.
I get a bit confused by 8bitdo’s naming conventions for the pro controllers. Uhhh… I have 2 pros (not + and with no handles) that I needed to open up and put tape on the contacts so the dpads wouldn’t register wrong inputs.
But I also have 1 pro 2 (with handles and back paddles), and that one has a decent d-pad. Triggers are maybe a bit lacklustre, but overall I really like the controller. Feels good in the hands.
I own an FPGA now

Anyone got recommendations for ps4 games for younger children (~7 yo)?
Dreams is rated 12 for some reason (??)
Rating Summary from ESRB
I bet that Klonoa collection would work decently well for a 7 year old, as long as they don’t immediately clock it as an older game and reject it out of hand for that reason.
Edit: I haven’t played it, but Skylanders is pretty beloved for that demographic (though it encourages kids to ask for a bunch of amiibo style toys for it too).
I think skylanders is dead, no new games since 2018 and I can’t remember the last time I saw a toy of it in stores.
oh i should have said theres a couple of children and hopefully they can play together, but Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series apparently does have 2 player co-op … altho it seems like its a bit limited as the second player supports Klonoa by helping them jump higher.
anyone know if Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania is any good? maybe too frustrating for younger children?
The obvious one is the lego games.
Videoball.
Untitled Goose Game.
Overcooked.
I know All The Small Games host has kids around that age and has recommended a bunch of stuff but it is all falling out of my brain. If you got the time scrubbing through their episodes is going to give good answers. They usually have a list of every game mentioned in the episode description.

katamari damacy: revelations or whatever the fuck it’s called
yeah i wondered about those but … people on the internet seemed to consider Worlds to be not as good as Minecraft and a lot of the other games seem to be licensed film stuff (??)
Speaking of Minecraft, I bet Dragon Quest Builders 2 would go over well. I haven’t played 2, but 1 was great, and by all accounts 2 is better. 2 also has a robust co-op mode.
Isn’t the thing about co-op in that game that it has to be done online?
I didn’t know that, but it looks like you’re right. That’s a real shame!
Yeah this is a game I always feel like I want to recommend to people, but I think it maybe comes with a big caveat in that it expects you to play through a pretty lengthy amount of linear story content before it just lets you do whatever you want. Kids who are used to Minecraft might bounce off it because they just want the freedom to play without having some story getting in the way.
I remember trying to get my brother to play Advance Wars like 20 years ago because he likes Shining Force 2, but he gave up after a few minutes because the tutorial girl wouldn’t shut up
Just realised it’s kinda dumb to use Shining Force 2 as a counter example when that is a linear plot based game, although in comparison to AW it lets you do stuff way quicker and the dialogue is pretty simple and to-the-point.
i would have put this in the axe but i’m not supposed to talk about products there so
it’s official - i’m super bored with the iphone’s design. everything about it. the consumer in me demands something else for my next phone because at this point the novelty of the phone has completely receded and all that remains is despair.
i know i’ve asked this question here before, but it was a long time ago, so:
are my only real alternatives androids? out of those, which ones are actually the best? internet searches lead me to the conclusion that the latest Google Pixel is best, however, i don’t really like Google as a company. the Samsung phones seem really cool but are also super expensive.
have android phones sort of caught up with the UI/usability of iphones, yet?
are there alternatives i’m missing?
lastly, how easy is transferring my phone # and all my stuff from icloud onto an android?
