Quick Questions XIV: A Question Reasked (Part 1)

I have 6 pages of a final to write between now and 1159pm tomorrow, so I am looking to be supplied with cool speedruns to have on in the background while I perform The Work. Any suggestions?

i am not really a speed run person but i encountered a youtuber called X MaverickHunter that has no damage runs of most mega man games and a few others. The mega man ones are really impressive because he uses all the abilities in a really interesting way, it’s like a … stylish speed run.

This one is probably the most ridiculous, but they are all good imo. idk if this is good by like speed runner standards but i find it really entertaining to watch.

For background viewing over a whole day, streamers doing attempts live on twitch is probably a better fit than browsing world records (and is also more interesting in that the success is not known in advance). You can search for any actively played game you already like, for instance there’s always somebody doing attempts on Super Metroid.

I have a handful of videos like that on my channel, but like… they’re all about the no damage, and not at all about the speedrun. I can’t even imagine the dedication that would go into doing both at once, although the speedrun scene for a lot of games are probably honed enough that the only way to have a competitive time is to take no damage (or intentional damage, in some cases)

The new port of Persona 4 Ultimax offers “Includes all previously released Persona 4 Arena Ultimax content, including the original Persona 4 Arena story”. Was that last part in the original P4AU release? If so how is the original P4A story given?

I’ve been putting off playing P4A for a while but if they transferred all the content to this then I guess I don’t need to play P4A any more?

Yeah it was. Believe it was just a menu option. Didn’t touch it since I had played both versions at release.

Does Quake PC have gyro controls? Do any low sysreq PC FPS have gyro controls?

where can i jailbreak an iphone 4 and where do i find old appstore apps after i jailbreak it?

You can probably import a steam controller profile that uses gyro from any number of other fpses if quake doesnt already have a bespoke one

Current PS4 jailbreak just dropped. Tempted to do this. I hear you can make it play PS2 games. Anyone here attempt to do this stuff? Is there a thread for this?

With the exception of Streets of Rage 4, what’s been going on with belt-scrollers since DD Neon?

No, Rudie, You don’t need to mention Praprium, thanks.

Could I interest you in a Golden Axe knock-off starring Chipmunks?

(It’s not particularly great)

Just looking through the beat 'em up tag on steam, sorting by top rated and try to eye which ones are actually of the belt scrolling variety. Not actually recommending anything but was curious.

None of these might be good but I think I’ve at least heard of Phantom Breaker once?

I thought Tonight We Riot was very disappointing FWIW.

I think The Takeover, for what it’s worth, is by the dev who kickstarted that Daytona USA-looking game that Nicalis let out to pasture.

yumecore is exactly what you see and hear in the trailer so you can tell if its for you.

i liked it
