I started getting that a few months ago. Running Display Driver Uninstaller cleared it up (like it says, download the drivers beforehand and disconnect your internet when you start.

What/when/how did select button start? I just thought this was just the next insert credit but now IC is coming back andā€¦ Iā€™m confused?

toups started selectbutton in 2006 as a refugee camp after a nefarious person practically burned the old IC forums to the ground. Thus SB is both a successor of sorts to the old IC, but also very much its own thing.

insert credit, both old and new, is very much brandon whathisnameā€™s baby

how many comebacks has insert credit had now

Canā€™t wait for SB to get its driverā€™s license next year!!

They just grow up so fast

Well the 2004-2006 board was like the second or third iteration by that point and thereā€™s been two or three more since then. So I think 6 is a pretty safe bet.

Impressive track record

We even had our own ice-hearted Napoleon III equivalent, who deliberately started a war with Prussia, leading to a crushing invasion of France, his own exile and the transition to the Third Republic

Thanks, then I might pass. I have already played plenty of by the books / pretty jRPGs.

skies of arcadiaā€™s encounter rate was widely hated even back then, i imagine it would be maddening in 2021

i have not played legends nor the original, but i did listen to a comparison of the audio quality and legends sounded fucking horrible compared to the dreamcast version. so i know absolutely nothing but if iā€™m playing that game itā€™d be on the dreamcast for that reason alone. dunno if thereā€™s a hack for that

maybe it doesnā€™t bother you!

I wonder why Heather Alexandra (who looked like one of the few interesting people at Kotaku) loves Arcadia so much. I guess she grew up with it.

yeah jrpg fandom is usually not explainable by anything more than that

itā€™s got a Chrono Trigger/Grandia mood; real solid, real middle-of-the-road stuff that lays down concrete archetypes in your brain if you hit it at a fertile age.
