I have three puzzles left in Artisan of Glimmith and one of them I screwed up so bad I reset it because I had no idea where I went wrong (and I have still resisted testing the check answer button except for once just to know how it worked). These are three nasty puzzles, and one of them is a 6.
I did go back to magicube and it turned out that the one puzzle I was stumped on was just a weird intermission and skipping it, I did the next 4 puzzles just fine. What the heck is going on with that other I wonder.
I am in what I assume is the final section of Myst 4. I am still not quite sure what Iām supposed to do, but at least I found Achenarās journal , even though it didnāt help really. I see a lot of stuff here and I know what my goal is, I just am not sure how to actually accomplish anything yet. Weird section!
Also will throw in some love for Linelith, Itās kind of like The Witness light in all the best ways.

Iāve not had great personal puzzle luck recently (back chunk of Inbento was a slog, ended up refunding He Who Watches as I could tell while solidly executed it was gonna not be for me) so after some internal debate went with Pipe Push Paradise as my next puzzle game as even if it goes poorly knocking it out would clear the way for me to eventually get to Bonfire Peaks which looks rather good.
Pipe Push Paradise is one of those clearly post-Stephenās Sausage Roll puzzle games, basically a 3d sokoban that does not disregard said third dimension. This one also shares the odd rolling behavior mechanic as instead of boxes you push around pipe chunks that can roll in various ways while trying to more or less get an islandās plumbing working one again. Let me grab a quick screenshot.
The irregular shaped ones can roll in very particular ways, weāve only just brushed against the z axis so far but I can see it becoming increasingly important.
My issue is that I seem to be bad at it, I think I may have lost my puzzle mojo a bit. I donāt think Iāve gotten dumb but Iām unsure if I have the right mental to deal with when a game throws a wall my way, frustration might be coming too quickly and once it does itās not like I start thinking better. I also got stuck on the 4th puzzle for a while as I miscounted pieces and discounted the correct solution early on because of it which is⦠an ill omen. TBF the one I most recently got stuck on before I quit for the day while only like puzzle 13 out of 47 is listed as a hard one so perhaps it is an intentionally placed early heat check.

Inbento was cute but really not that interesting. The first like 7 levels felt near trivial and then the last ones jumped up but werenāt that much more compelling. I finished it, but even so.

My issue with inbento is that in order to make the game tricky at the end it involved a number of different pieces that changed the future state of things to a degree that it became difficult to visualize so I ended up having to resort to a more brute force approach which IMO isnāt a particularly compelling experience.

Pipe Push Paradise is quite hard, I still havenāt finished the post-game bonus island. imo just get the gate puzzles done so you can explore the full set of puzzles and pick (and drop) the ones that tickle your fancy

So Pipe Push Paradise might just have an odd difficulty curve. I did get past that one hard puzzle in the opening area (had an idea right before I went to bed, loaded up the game quickly and it worked) and earlier today I played for a bit and blazed through the next two areas without much difficulty at all.

Corey Martin does seem to have trouble with ramping up from easy to hard puzzles (or with working out how hard puzzles are), but I greatly admire the solution of allowing the player to walk past the ones they have trouble with. Bonfire Peaks puts the known hard puzzles behind gates that require a certain number of other solved puzzles to access, which is great for sickos aiming at 100% and also for people who just want to see the ending & skip every optional puzzle
