Pokémon Legends: Each and Every Pokémon is Able to Shrink Itself Down to Miniscule Size!

Not sure if there’s enough interest in this new Arceus game for there to be a new thread. Regardless I will say that my first takeaway from watching a stream is that the fastest way to get around in the beginning is to constantly be rolling, Ocarina of Time style.

Note: the professor only states that they can shrink — does every Pokémon have the ability to grow back to a set size? Any size?

The anime and Sun/Moon both have examples of gigantic Pokémon that are regarded as exceptional but perhaps this is poorly understood in modern times.

pokemon randomly coming out of their balls 3x their normal size because they forgot whether their nominal height was in imperial or metric units

imagining the boss version of pokemon in this game which are the same but bigger (at various different sizes) are ones that have mastered this technique

I like to think that Pokémon choose to have a maximum height in the Stadium/Colosseum games to be good sports

thinking of a better world where capturing pokemon by tiring them out isnt by fighting but by doing things like encouraging them to run in circles (physical) or having to think really hard on puzzles you give them (mental) and the more tired they get the smaller they become

I can’t stop thinking about this shrinking pokemon situation…

So is pokemon catching like:

  • Beat up a wild pokemon until they’re weak, scared, and tired.
  • Throw the pokeball at them.
  • The pokemon is so freaked out that they instinctually shrink down and hide inside the pokeball to get away from you.
  • The pokeball closes and locks them in.
  • If the pokemon hasn’t been beaten down enough, they break the lock and escape.
  • If the pokemon is beaten down enough, they can’t break out and they stay in the ball.
  • Eventually stockholme syndrome sets in.

How about:

  • The pokeball emits pleasant pheromones and it makes the pokemon want to shrink in order to immerse its entire body in the healing smell

  • Once inside the pokeball it’s a luxurious environment they never want to leave (I’m pretty sure this part is official lore somewhere)

This does feel like the next tiny step in Game Freak’s extremely gradual quest to make pokemon training seem less unethical.
