reconsidering how aggressive the local group is because no local farmer would pass up an old fashioned field fight to hide between two cities

I think 2 player is mostly decided by the farmer competition

Yes farmers + pigs got us most of our points by the end of this game.

We are definitely still learning the strategies for this game and haven’t really become competitive with each other yet. This was actually our best game yet, from a score perspective and in the sense of how much we are utilizing/playing with the mechanics in the game now. So I think we’re getting there.

I picked up a copy of Hunters and Gatherers just because it looked cool and more ways to Carc is fun, but I hope that will be like our Challenge Mode Carc that will teach us a lot about fighting for points. Because Carc with just two players and this many tiles is something we treat pretty casually.

a few days ago, i finally got to play the copy of sakura arms i bought last year.

it’s a really fun game! it takes a while to get the hang of, and that along with my low ability at teaching games and the fact that it’s only two player mean that i probably won’t get to play it much ;_;

Our game of Heat ended today. We talked about playing again but with the full six players so there will be more interaction. If anyone would like to join, let me/us know. Better to include more SB people than people we know from other realms or randoms. (There is also an option to have the game control some cars, but I’ve never tried that.) Don’t worry about not knowing the game; we can catch you up.

When I say interaction, I’m referring to the ā€œslipstreamā€ option. Whenever you end your turn directly behind or directly beside another car, you have the option of moving forward two additional spaces. This does not count toward your speed total (but it can still be risky if it pushes you around a corner and your speed is already too high for that corner).

a decade or two later, and divorced from its collectable game/pay-to-win status, the dungeons and draogns miniatures game is pretty fun.

I’ve played only the Japanese version, because that’s the one a friend owns. It has nice art.

I taught two more people to play Arkham Horror: The Card Game last night. Somehow the game manages to be fun even when I play just the first scenario of the ā€œtutorialā€ campaign twice in two weeks. But my ultimate goal is to recruit more players so I can try more of the campaigns.

I am in the middle of Dunwich Legacy but it’s very slow going because it’s with family and even when the right assortment of family members is together for a visit we don’t always play. Dunwich Legacy also happens to be the only full campaign I’ve played through previously. (It was in Tabletop Simulator with a couple people from this very forum.)

One fun part of showing some new people the game was building some decks with investigators I’ve never played before. I did this intentionally so I could see them in action and maybe get a sense of which ones I’d want to play in the future for real. And what I concluded was that this is the one I want to try next:

Yes, he’s obviously Great Value Indiana Jones, but what I’ve seen of his deck possibilities are a lot of fun.

i’ve been able to play the dragon-themed wingspan sequel, wyrmspan a couple of times this week. it’s not just a reskin, it adds a bunch of new mechanics, and ditches a few from wingspan.

i like it a lot better than wingspan! it never feels like you’re impoverished and unable to do anything like wingspan often does, and it feels like it’s less reliant on random elements, too.

Me.

I’ve been playing this three player. We have the Dunwich expansion but haven’t gotten past the base game yet. It’s fun. I think my group is just starting to get into a rythmn where we’re not wasting actions.

I bought the final expansion for Spirit Island a week ago. So far it’s even better than I expected. You can really see the experience the devs have in making spirits work and feel fun. One of my surprise favorite things from the expansion have been aspect cards that change how old spirits operate. So far they’re wonderful. One of the aspect cards changed my previously least favorite spirit into something I’d happily play again.

One good idea I found on BGG is to replace the investigator cards that come with Arkham Horror: The Card Game with tokens encased in coin capsules. However, the images I’d used in the past for these disappeared from BGG (presumably due to their use of copyrighted images, but who knows) and so for some of the newer sets I decided to try making my own.

To create these, I print the images on glossy card stock and then punch them out using a one-inch circle punch. It took a little time to find good images to use, make them the right size, and arrange them in a sort of template, but I’m happy with how they turned out.

I used the same coin capsules (25mm) for the chaos bag tokens, which I think is kind of necessary.

These are excellent. I imagine a token feels way more natural to use as a player piece than a small card.

I imagine that you could extract these images from the files for the AHLCG Tabletop Simulator workshop mod. I have done this in the past to get high quality assets from officially licensed things that are otherwise not freely passed around to players online.

Someone brought with them the Knizia Lord of the Rings co-op game to the meetup last night, and I had a blast playing it. One of the best co-op games I’ve played and a surprisingly thematic table experience as everyone has to talk about what cards they have and attempt to save resources for parts of the journey toward Mordor that are bound to become more desperate. I loved it!

Found a copy of Android Netrunner at Goodwill for $7 including two expansions. Haven’t gone cataloging yet and it already seems like some cards are missing, but not too much.

Edit: looks like just two cards are missing from the core set, and I have no desire atm to untangle what sets these Genesis and Spin cards are from.

If you end up liking Android Netrunner, I have some extra cards (mostly from the core set, I think) that I could send you. (Might be useful if the collection you picked up included only one core set.)

I’ve actually had this little pile of cards separate from my collection for a while, waiting to find a good home for them.
